b20vtec problem

I encountered a strange problem today. I was in my car approaching 8k, and shifted into 3rd and the car just bogged, and the revs dropped quite a bit, not like usual, there was a serious power loss. Its fine through the first 2 gears and picked up after

Could this be a tranny issue? or motor? The clutch was changed last summer.

TIA

its in an EK, EM1 to be more specific. Stock everything, ECU is chipped with generic b20vtec chip, chrome to be more specific.

I checked the oil level, seems to be fine. Also, this has never happened before.

sounds to me like your fuel pump is having a hard time keeping up at 8000rpms....most stockers usually do seeing as they were originally designed to only operate up to about 7200rpms or so.
Get that bad boy tuned as soon as possible.

Zeeman: my fuel pump is stock, from my SiR. Would it not be enough?

Dingus888: cracked sleeves? i really hope not :s I checked the spark plugs, they are normal. No significant oil burn.

well both of those are already b-series pumps, and in stock form your car was designed to rev to 8200rpms (or around there), so the fuel pump can handle it.
But in my car (95 civic EX coupe) the stock fuel pump was only designed to operate to 7200rpms.

constant coolant burning is a good sign. There was actually a 1.8L at work the other day that had a cracked sleeve, it ran decent when cold, but idled rough when warm and smoked quite a bit.

The car doesnt smoke at all at idle. I checked a coolant resevoir and its half-way below the MIN. line, but it was at MIN about a week ago, so it doesnt seem to be burning excessively. I topped it up and I'll keep a close eye on it.
If i revved into redline and the chip is set for fuel cut off beyond that certain RPM and it would cause it to do this? or are chips even set this way?
Also, why would a cracked sleeve cause instant power loss like this? and why would it come and go? I havent really given taken the car into VTEC the last 2 days except for once yesterday until 7500 rpm, ran normal.

cracked sleeve will act like a blown headgasket sort of

you will burn coolant

if will probobly run fine then once it's warm and your cylinders expand it will open the crack up more, you will loose compression yada yada
