B18B1 OBD1 to OBD2, no problem!

Hey, check this out.

Everyone told me I'd be stuck with OBD1/2 problems, but hear this:

My enigne is from a 1996 integra, B18B1 (I didn't pull this from a car myself).
My distributor is from a 1995 integra, B18B1, so is my alternator (I pulled these from the car myself).

It clipped in perfectly to the existing 1996 wire harness!

Weird eh.

Mind you I haven't installed the motor yet into the car, so I don't know if it will run properly.

So what I'm saying is, maybe OBD1 and OBD2 distributors and alternators are the same since they clip in to the wiring fine.

Then I though, the clips might work, but maybe the wires are switched or are otherwise not compatible electronically (then I'll be screwed).

Well, I checked the Haynes manual... it shows the SAME electronics/wiring for 1994-1997 and then a different one for 1998 and up.

This makes me wonder why everyone's been saying OBD1 is from 94-95 and obd2 is from 96 and up. Is there a misconception here or what!?

Too be honest.. Those manuals aren't the bible.. So I wouldn't necessarily go by them...

I would check a more reliable source HONDA. Check out their service manuals and you'll see.

It may look fine and dandee now.. Right off the bat with the harness plugging in is a sign to me.. something is wrong... They're not suppose to plug in..

Just some tidbit.. I've always used the harnes that came with the car.. not the engine... Just transfer the harness over.. plug into the sensors... if the wires are too short.. extend them.. Now you won't have to worry about the harness not working... Besides.. some harnesses are different between the chassis.. eventhough they plug in.. doesn't mean the pins are in the same places..

Good luck.
