B18 TB on D16 Manifold.... a little help needed...

I read from another forum, (before I found this one... doh...), that you can take a B18 TB and put it onto a D16 manifold... basically plug and play.

I bought a B18 TB that came off a 95 Integra, and I tried to install it yesterday on my D16y8. It looked like it fit perfectly, that is, until I started my car. It revved up to almost 3500 rpm, and then dropped to 1000 rpm, and just bounced back and forth between the two.

At first I thought it was just the TB gasket, that it had a bad vacuum leak, but when I took off the TB and compared it to the D16 TB, I realized that they aren't the same. The gasket off the D16 doesn't cover the entire back of the B18, and there is a LOT of open channel space that would account for the bad leak.

Am I mising something here? Can the B18 TB be used on the D16 and I just messed up somewhere? Anyone heard of this issue? A little help would be great.

Thanks.

did you port match the intake manifold? if you didn't you might as well put your stock tb back on because you will lose power.

do you have a pick of the larger tb gasket over the mani intake? that might help me troubleshoot the problem better but i'm going to point the finger at either a vacuum leak or a tps that isn't calibrated properly.

I was under the impression that I could use the D16 gasket and didn't buy a B18 TB gasket. The gasket from the D16 doesn't cover the enter back surface of the B18 TB, and that's why there are open ports.

I'll see if I can get picks up that show the difference between the two.

Let me know how it goes cause im planning on doing the same thing. You can use the LS, Type-R, CR-V, and the Prelude throttle bodies to a D-series. Im looking to get the Type-R TB cause of the 62mm. But you should port match it or else it aint worth doing.

ur gonna need to port match, make sure all vacuum lines are secured and routed properly, the tps also has to be in good working order and a new gasket would be nice to make sure there is no leaks inbetween the tb and the plenum.
