I would definatly get the itr over the b16b just because of the lack of trq..which is hard to come by in our engines.

the JDM is B18c-r.
But the block will be stamped b18c and the head will be stamped pr3.

B16B would be a motor for you if you love to rev high all the time, balance the bottom end and say hello to 10,000 RPM.

The only way to make power on a NA engine is either increase displacement, or increase RPM.

Id buy parts and build an LS block and when your ready to swap put your head on and your good to go. You'll make more power than the Type R and save yourself money. Think of what you could buy with the same money. You could do your whole head, cams springs valves, ect. Make tons of power. and have slightly more displacement. Or you could just buy a plain jane GSR, do that up and then swap it in. You'll be faster than a Type-R swap at the same or less money. Sell you B16 later and get some money back.
