Don't know if this is the same thing, but I had that problem with my 88 Z24. End up having to get the transmission rebuilt for that issue.

Go back to them and let them know if that is where you got everything

Unless you know this for a fact, I would suggest you don't make speculations on what Dave thought or knew.

Give them both a call, bring the car back in and have it looked over. You should have a warranty with the work and engine.

Well here is my suggestion as I have been in the exact same situation as you with my swap. Take it back to Defcon tell them exactly what the problem is. If they don't agree that they should give you a new tranny then I would get another affiliate here to look at it and get there opinion as well. If its proven that it is the tranny which I am pretty sure it is I would get Defcon to replace it with no charge to you.

Don't get it fixed at your cost just yet. If they care anything about there image here on the boards I am sure something can be worked out.

for **** sakes..

your problem is with your synchro assembly. That's it.. PERIOD.

Obviously jon from optionjdm is going to say the tranny is fine cause its probably from him and he doesnt want to fork over a new transmission.

Dave at Defcon DOES know the tranny needs to come out, he's just playing stupid and hopes you'll leave it alone. BTW, its NOT the clutch.

If defcon wants to continue to play stupid i would recommend going to another shop to confirm that it is the transmission. I would be pretty peeved off if I were you, I have heard good things from Defcon, lets hope dave and the boys live up to their name.

LOL!! I don't mean to call you all fools, but you should be careful before you begin to bash. I expected more from you guy's especially Zeeman and Chris_V2. Transmission problems, in particular problems with gears popping out can be caused by multiple symptoms.

Possibile symptoms include:

- drive shaft failure
- shifter bushings
- low transmission fluid
- clutch failure
- failed syncro spring
- poor detents

As for helping the customer, we were and are perfectly willing to help him out. **Please keep in mind and note that the motor was not purchased from us and this problem is not due to an installation problem. Aswell the customer was asked, and declined a clutch and flywheel before we installed the motor and transmission. Our work at Defcon Racing has always spoken for itself and does not need me or anyone else to defend it, however biased opinions and poor judgement can really harm someones business. I am confident that Option JDM will resolve these issues quickly and effectively.

Next time please call me before bashing (905) 709-7744

Hey Chris,

We have sold many swaps in the past. We have taken care of any problems that have occured. We have replaced trannies that had grinds. I talked with Dave about this, and it couldn't be determined if it was the tranny. I personally drove the car through all the gears and it did not grind. I had an extensive talk with Dave and he gave me a list of possible symptons.
If the symptoms cannot be taken care of. I will have the tranmission replaced for you no problem. You can always call me at 905-305-6316. I stand by my motors and my warranty. I talked with Chris in the past before he went to see Dave, and asked him to call me if he still had any issues.

John

If you guys are taken care of it then why is he posting? The poster just made it seem like he was getting ripped off. that's why i was 'bashing' if you want to call it that. Either way Dave, you and I both know 8/10 its the synchros, but since its an old clutch the teeth on the clutch could be toast which could cause it popping out of gear.

goodluck to the original poster, hopefully it is the clutch, which should be obvious once you pull the trans.

WTF? what is this 8/10's BS

First of all, the clutch doesn't have teeth period. And that is not what I am reffering to. Generally if friction material is low, the clutch slips.

Secondly, there is never a good reason to bash without fully understanding the situation.

Please do not give technical advise without any real knowledge of how things work and yes I will find the problem, hopefully I won't have to pull out the transmission.

As I have stated before, unless you guys know the full story, don't assume anything. As it would seem the poster did not give full details of his swap and what was involved. Defcon and Option have already stated they will help him out in any way possible, so no they are not hiding or not wanting to help.

So I would think that this problem is going to get resolved as soon as the poster decides to either go back to John or Dave

Thanks
