B16A2 idles erratically, then stalls when given gas....

My SiR swap is finally completed, with all the wiring done. (2000 SiR engine converted to OBD1, running off a chipped P28 ECM).

Now the engine fires up, but idles very rough, to the point that car shakes. If I give it a tap of gas, it tends to stall.

I put new spark plugs in (OEM SiR from dealer), and checked all the connections/lines.

Now I'm confused. Before this engine came out of the donner car, it was running perfectly, and now its like this.

I checked in my repair manual, and it says: "Fuel pump not delivering sufficient fuel to the fuel injector system". I do have a little leak at the fuel filter, which would be fixed by using new crush washers. I was wondering if this could be the problem...?

I dont believe timing has changed or anything, and engine seems to be starving or something....

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Here is another thought: When doing the harness, I cut the injector plugs from the B16's harness, and soldiered them to my stock DX harness, running them off the DX's resistor box. Now I have DX resistor box, feeding the B16's injectors. I do believe that could alter the injector pulse width, resulting misfirings...

Any thoughts on this one guys?

I was about to say to check the injectors ... it could be the possible problem, after my swap when my car was running bad it turned out to be the injectors.

check for codes first...

I have a feeling its this (cuz it happened to mine):

1) o2 sensor. That will **** up the mixture bad and cause it to run REALLY bad.
2) There is a screw on your throttle body that you might need to fart around with to get it to idle a bit higher than normal at the begging then it will settle down to about 600-700rpm once the engine is warm.

But really, check the o2 and check that screw. If its closed, that is the problem for the stalling, the rough start is the o2 I think,......

Good news everyone! The problem is gone! I took home some throttle body cleaner from work today, to spary it in and see what the idle would do. The idea was, since this spray has alot of petrolium in it, it would solve the gas starvation problem, and then I would know that its the ignition and vise-versa.

However, after I sprayed the intake manifold with this stuff, it began to run better, and ultimately, the problem was solved! Hurrrayyyyyyy!

Its running off a Mugen program for now, so its a bit rich. VTEC engages at 5500 and redline is at 9500. However, I didnt rev it pass 8000. I think I will change the chip to Spoon though. Its more civilized... (Vtec at 5200, Redline at 8500)

So yeah, all my hard work finally paid up!
I'm so happy......!

Thanks for all your inputs guys!
