Yes they do you just need to know what part to ask for. The reason why most people think JDM tranny's are not repairable is because they are not worth the money to fix.

I'll say it again people think that a JDM tranny is not repairable because it is too much money for the parts let alone the labour to repair. When buying the syncros I can't remeber how the come but they are sold in packages like 1,2,3 or 4,5. So you can't just buy 3rd, you have to buy the package.

Just for parts you already spent more than the tranny is wourth and you haven't even installed them yet. A J1, Y1, S1, all B16 trannys are a dime a dozen they are everywhere. Therefore it is easier to replace than to rebuild. However I would fix a LSD tranny.

When getting the parts they are more available than just one place in the states and you need to know what to ask for. With all of you 1gen B16's when buying parts for your motor do you tell Honda that "I have a JDM B16" If you do most of them will look at you like your stupid. You need to know the conversions, wether it is a 90 integra, 94 del sol or others.

Rant over

I couldn't find part number for syncros but I found the parts need to convert to the 4.785 final drive instead of your 4.4

Part Number Description
41233-P80-E30 4.785 DIFERENTIAL RING GEAR
23421-P80-E30 COUNTERSHAFT FIRST GEAR
91107-P80-E30 FIRST GEAR NEEDLE BEARING (x2)
91211-P21-008 DAMPER FRICTION $12.67
23914-P80-E30 COLLAR RING
23221-P80-E30 4.785 COUNTERSHAFT

Where are all the dime a dozen DOHC VTEC cable trannys!? I had a hard as hell time finding one, and when you do they aren't cheap. And even when you do get one.. Guess what?! Its got the notorious 3rd gear grind. I don't think I know of anyone with a J1 or S1 that doesn't grind 3rd at least a little bit.

Buying syncros and rebuilding the tranny is for people who are sick of grinding gears and having to get a new tranny every three years or so to get one that grinds less.
Go on G2ic.com and see how many people are looking for a VTEC cable tranny that doesn't grind. There's tonnes of people waiting for one, they're far from easy to come by.

I don't know where the problem of finding them are, any forum I go to has many for sale. I have a tranny without grings in my car and I also have a spare sitting in my garage just in case. I have bought both trannys separate for $400 each. BTW what do you consider expensive? It's a tranny spending a few hundred dollars is not an issue.

I originally posted that the trannys are rebuildable despite others saying they are not. I also said it is not worth spending hundreds on rebuilding a tranny when you could get one for less cash, so don't get your panties in a twist.

I went to g2ic.com to see what your taking about and I couldn't find a WTB post in Canada, unless your searchg in the US.

Don't mean to steal a thread but i would like to change the gear ratio of my 5tt gear (JDM B16A YS1? with LSD) . Is this possible? I have a fair amount of drving to do this summer and would save a lot if my 5th gear didn't turn over at 5000 plus at 120km.

I don't know what to say about that other than maybe learn how to drive, perhaps don't get to shift happy and start forcing the gear in before your foots on the clutch.

Are you saying you have a YS1 or you want to have that tranny?

I think I figured it out.

Yes you are able to change your 5th gear and final drive on your tranny. You say you rev too high and want it lower, right? I would swap in a 5th gear from an LS tranny taking your final drive from a 4.400 to a 4.266. If I'm not mistaken you will be just over 4K (4.1K) at 120K, saving you money.

Pretty quick to jump to conclusions eh!?

Nevermind, you're the most right person on this subject, you win. Don't rebuild a tranny, they're a dime a dozen!

I've had two. A Y1 and an S1 and they both had a 3rd gear grind.
