B16A stroker kit

B16A stroker kit
Any B16A owners up for one of these? TODA Racing B16A stroker kit. It increases displacement to 1797cc!! The stroke is increased from 77.4mm to 87.2mm. The kit comes with forged pistons in 81.00 mm or 81.50mm. All motor anybody?

It's not a bad kit.. if you're willing to shell out $2000US for it. Basically what that kit comprises of is a GSR crank with custom pistons and rods. But that gives a shitty rod to stroke ratio from what I remember.

You're better off buidling LS/VTEC or CRVTEC. More power with a similar r/s ratio - 1.54 .... don't know why anybody would wanna stroke out a B16A. One of the main reasons it's such a great motor is the near perfect r/s... stroking it would eliminate that... if you want a higher displacement motor just buy one. B18B's and B20's longblocks are cheap... and you can do frankie if VTEC is what you want.

Not sure why people would stroke a 1.6L to 1.8L... maybe it's for the better power band.
Maybe.. it's along the same idea as a B16B.. A B16B is basically. a DE-stroked 1.8L.. Yup.. that's right.. the block height is the same as the 1.8L.. Don't ask me why, but that's how it is... Unless I'm mistaken. A B16B has a broader power band..
Jeeess... Go figure.

Yeah.. I agree.. What a waste of the perfect rod to stroke ratio. If you're going to spend $2000US for the stroker kit.. why not just get a B18c1 from the start? Sure it comes with forged pistons and rods... Even if you go out and buy a set of JE pistons and crower rods, it still won't cost that much

One route to take if you do want a significant increase in displacement would be to resleeve the B16A block to 86mm (from stock 1587cc to 1790cc) ... it's very expensive but you'll be able to maintain the 1.74 rod ratio.
If you wanna go a little crazier you can ditch the stock crank and run a B17A crank which would get displacement close to 1900cc and a 1.68 rod ratio (which is still pretty good).
Crazy? yes, but VERY expensive! For the same money you could build a reliable frankie and have so much more power, well tuned it'll be just as reliable as any of the B16A setups above.
