depends on what you want for now. Obviosuly you not going to turbo it right away so if you want to have fun for a while, get a B16A and you can enjoy the Vtec for a while. But if you will add a turbo kit on the swap very soon then go for the B20, it has lower compression on B20 so you can run abit higher boost and the low end torque should be pretty good due to the displacement.

Pricewise, both swap will end up probably the same amount since the B20 swap should be a bit cheaper but you will have to get a ITR or Skunk2 IM in order to work in your civic and lots of other stuff that can't remember for now
Hope this help

the b20a isn't the good version of that engine.... try getting a b18b... its a decent motor which turbo's well

Have you upgraded any of the suspension, tires, or brakes? Those would be the first thing I would do before a swap. A fast motor won't do you much good if you can't turn or stop better.

the b20a is from a 88 prelude
why would you even think of swapping that in?

i think you mean a b20b or a b20z
good choices.....don't get a b18b

Okay... some of you said to go with a b16a and a b18c and b20.. damn.. I only need one engine.. lol... What I'm looking for is speed. All the people around here always make fun of hondas and I just want to show them up... I wont turbo it until like spring because I'm not going to drive it in the winter so I have all winter to work on it.

I would say go for a B20 for now and do your suspension and brakes during the winter, when spring comes you can turbocharge your b20 with no worries about brakes and suspension, that just my opinion.

i couldn't remember which was the low end crv motor... a or b... ah well... i think a b20z with a gsr tranny would be pretty sweet though...

ya a b20 will be good but you have to do the swap right...liek get a gsr tranny...lsd will be crucial to find but a normal open dif gsr tranny will do....since the intake manifold on teh b20 is huge it will not fit in a civic so the manifold from a b18b has to be used or a skunk 2 yada yada. The ecu form a b18b will have to be used but will make the b20 run lean so a afc to tune more ful in will be needed or get the ecu chipped...seeing how yoru gogin turbo a afc will be needed anyway...that will provide a good running swap..but the b20's sleeves are bored to the max and are weak (it's a bored out b18b) so a b18b in theory will be able to take more boost in stock form so that has to be taken into consideration...me personally woudl take a b18b if I was goign turbo with a lsd gsr tranny..for the sake of simplicity and strenght
