b16a or b20a I think it was
I don't now a lot about engines but I just bought a white 94 civic and the first thing I want to do is a engine swap to a b16a or a b20a... or should I go with something else. Please help...

my .02 cents...is research...do plenty of readig on what each engine is best for and understand about the differeces first i did a year of reaserch before choosing an engine for my particular application...if you walk into a shop saying i thiknk the motor i want is a b16...they will know you don't know **** and charge you all kinds belive me....if you go in saying a want a 2nd gen sir and you know stuff they will talk to you as an equal not like a customer with too much money.....reaserch is key....i say go b20 if you don't have too much $$ to spend on a swap....even go to the extent of driving civics or getting rides in civics with different motors....to get a feel for what your paying for...any questions...PM me i'll be happy to answer

B20 has lots of bottem end torque, but requires certin modifications and a few extra parts, like diff manifod ect.. B16 has very low torque numbers but good hp and high RPM capabilites... Personally I perfer the B20, but its weakness is in its cylender walls... If you have a b20 resleeved, then its definately the engine of choice... but it still has no vtec, and therfor lacks hp, and top end power, but if u got the cash then you can make your own vtec b20, by swapping the head... then its a killer powerplant...
If you want the most power with the least amount of hasstles, then the B18 vtec is the choice of engins, but be prepared to spend 5 grand for the swap... |
gsr is the best compromise with torque top end power and most of all $$$$$...
