i got a 88-91 sir cable y1 tranny with a 2nd gear grind i was wondering i could make a hybrid tranny with a 1991 LS 5th gear ..i've heard of people doing this ........but at the same time take the 2nd gear syncro out of the LS tranny and put it into the sir tranny while i got them both apart as everyone can tell its like 4:30 in the morning and ive been searching since 1 maybe i'm looking in the wrong direction but i'm needing some good advise & input

you can do an ls 5th gear swap no problem... think you need sir synchros for the 2nd gear...

okay the sychros should be the same but what about a sir 1st and an LS third are they all the same or both 1st are the same both 2nd are the same..........maybe someone can shead some light on this.........thanks

the gears are different... the ls has more teth on the gears then the b16

i understand that the gears are different because the sir is a shorter transmission sorry i didnt clearify that but...... what about a sir 1st and an LS third sychros are they all the same or both 1st are the same both 2nd are the same.........

basically are all 5 sychros interchangable? example can the LS 2nd gear sycrhos be swaped in to the sir tranny to fix the 2nd gear grind

Y1...the cable tranny of death. there is currently no supplier of tranny parts for that model. good luck. as for the ls synchro, it will only fit the ls gear if installed into the Y1. no ls synchro, Y1 gear combo
