B16 Rebuild Question

B16 Rebuild Question

Guys once again i find myself on here asking for assistance. I do know a bit about cars but Not like some of you guys that know tons of stuff. Anyhow i have a b16 in a 93 civic hatch. The motor as far as internals go is completely stock but it is turbocharged. Curently Running 6psi its ok i guess but i find it to be slow now as i have gotten used to it so really just feels like a stock civic now and you know how it is once you start addind to your Hp you want more and more. Now that motor has taken a beating and time has come to rebuild it im having the turbo rebuilt having all new piping installed and of course rebuilding the engine my question is this while i have the motor out of the car and dismanteled are there any internals that i should just do right now wile the motor is out i mean i do want to get the most power i can out of this motor. So are there any internals dat i should just do now if so wat are they and if you can please wat parts would you recomend thanx?

pistons and rods, but it really depends on your budget.

first off if your not tuned GET it tuned PROPERLY, or you wont have an engine to put interals into.


instead of rebuilding it, go out and buy a b18 mean time, save for some mods, and drop that 1.6 head on top....

stock they LOVE 12psi on 3/4 hybrids, all day long.

just a thought.

well if your car is to slow I woudl ask you this

is your motor healthy no sense in building it up if it's healthy

what turbo charger are you running I would say get a bigger one

t3/t4 garret hybrid of some sort 50 trim or bigger

pull your cylinder head put a new head gasket in with arp haed bolts turn up your boost 8-10-12 psi what ever and get it tuned I doubt you will think 260-300 whp is slow maybe cause you won't get traction

get it tuned on crome

i'm running 8psi right now and i'm collecting parts for 18-20psi in the future.

parts list:
wiseco 81.5mm forged 9:1 piston kit (have)
forged connecting rods (need)
block gaurd (have)
arp head studs (on the way)
cometic head gasket (on the way)
boost controller (need)

service list:
after the block guard is installed it will be bored to match the pistons (have a shop do this)
mild port and polish on the head (i'll do this)

suggestions:
if you don't already have a 3" downpipe and exhasut i'd plan on installing one if you intend to run more than 250hp.
also plan on running larger fuel injecors than 450's if you plan on making more than 300whp.
get it tuned properly.

thanx guys for all your helpfull info oh and yeah i do love speed after a while of driving the same thing kind of gets boring but anyhow im glad theres a site like this around with people willing to help thanx

get it tuned and turn up the boost.
If the rest of the setup is up to par you should be fine (with good tuning) running 10-12psi on a stock b16. There are people making 350whp on a stock b16 at like 15psi.
Tuning is key for reliability, driveability, longevity, power and gas mileage. The last boosted d-series i tuned gets 550+kms to a tank of gas, and he doesn't drive it like an old lady either.
