B16 interchange ??????

Hey everyone, I scored a JDM B16A/tranny and other things that go along with the swap from a good friend of mine. My situation is this.... I was told that it need new rings ( I understand that there is alot more to it than just replacing the rings, machining etc. ) How interchangable are parts from various B16's ??? example.. head/block B16a1 head & B16a2/3 block, Int man/heads...ect. Is there a link that some one has that I can read up on this? I'v been looking at various articles through various web sites and I run into the same info....CR,Cam Dur,Type of crank/rods, OBD 123456 and all that, but nothing solid on the interchangability of them all. I plan on tackling this overhaul over the cold months and I'm just trying to not go into it blind (=costly mistake)

Thanks in advance.

Richard.

well first establish what your budget is, then condsider your goals. Is it a daily driver? track car? summer car?
But all b16 parts are interchangeable. Hell, most b-series parts are interchangeable. If you were to rebuild a b16 i would use CTR pistons to raise the compression. You can use any 81mm b-series piston (ITR, GSR, LS, B16, CTR) but the ctr will yeild the highest CR.

if your rings are gone it will be cheaper to find another stock b16 engine and use it instead.

Dont use ctr pistons, you have trouble getting good fuel so the engine runs well
