B16 engine swap questions

I am seriously looking at swaping in a B16a engine into my 90 Civic, but I am getting some feedback that this may not be the best course of action.
I hear that some people's engine's are frying in 6 months....now I know this can partly be the shop who installs it and who they buy the engines from.....but how many "only 40,000kms b16a engines" are out there in Japan. Are they really totaling their cars at such a high rate, but never managing to wreck the engine block in the process?...meaning how true is the only 40,000kms statement everyone seems to claim.

Basically my question is two part....
Where are all these engines generally coming from ...

and
Is there reputable shops that people have bought from and do they offer any warranties besides just startup....also, if I can get a gauge on how long people's engines have been running that would be great.

Thanks
David

This is what I've heard...not all cars in Japan are actual total loses. Appearantly, when one car gets hit in the rear, they tend to write that off and consider it a total loss, that's why you see some places selling a whole front end which is in excellent shape.
I guess they don't like a car that's been repaired.

not that i would know or anything

BUT

There are no more B16a or H2.2 left in japan to bring over

alot of "JDM shops are getting there motors from the middle east

There cheaper and come shiped with the top end seals replaced

ever notice most motors come with no ECU ?

hmmmmm

not that there is anything wrong with where the motors are comming from i meen there the same **** but there is no "50.000" rule

A big reason guys are having problems with the EF installs are the mounts

some mounts *cough* hasport *cough* mount the motor on an angle and this will cause the shafts (CV joint) to go fast

and there also forgeting to make room on the wheel well for the altinator pully

(seen this ALOT)

alot of the motors are also being sold with the PWO ECU this is the low end (CRX SIR / Civic SIR) ECU's and guys are not taking out the AC on the ECU
this will cause the motor not to run to it's full potential

(alot of people wilL argue this but to each there own)

as for where to buy motors from

my buddy bought a B16a 1st gen
put it in a 90dx

ran it BONE stock and ripped off a 14.6 atr cauyga(SP?)

There's some rule here about not giving out the names of shops or selling things if your not an affiliate so i can't tell you where to get one
or even sell you one

There are some good and some bad
look around and ask alot of ????

but what do i know

I'm just cluster

Thank you Aaron for your posting with little substance:thumbup:
someone should negate about 300 of your postings as whoring for the sake of bumping the numbers.
