B16 EF etest
Ok its getting down to the nitty gritty here
insurance starts the 1st of november and im still yet to get an etest. ive herd it is imposible to etest my SIR its the proper gen EF b16 anyone know what to do ? i need help like alot! thanks everyone |
come on
sombody must know someone who has had a problem like this  |
Your shop has to use the Hot Rod Program because you did an engine swap. I have an EK and i swap in a JDM B16AII and the shop i went told me i have to use the Hot Rod Program...
|
yea ive herd about this "hot rod program"
ive also herd that b16a1 will never pass emisions im curious to know if anyone has got one to pass legit |
if you have a cat converter, u have a great chance to pass it
b4 u run the e-test, just rev your engine for 15-20 min to burn off the sludge, that might help my 88 civic with D15 still able to pass the e-test, so good luck |
thanks guys
im going to give it a go soon with stock intake exaust and cat under the HOT ROD thinger ill make sure shes real hot before i take it in aswell anyone think that if i seafoamed it it would make any differences? |
I couldn't get my B16 to pass, ended up getting a conditional. Then, i moved somewhere you don't have to test. But, my motor wasn't running worth ****, so maybe if everything is tuned properly...
|
make sure you have stock ecu as in a non-chipped one. and both o2 sensors are hooked up and are functional and you aren't throwing any codes. I've got mine to pass last time, but that was quite a bit ago and they were playing around with everything. but all i can really suggest is make sure you aren't throwing any codes, you have 2 o2 sensors hooked up and you don't have a chipped ecu.

Ok well heres the deal.
The B16 will pass with no problem under ceratin conditions. Like nautica explained try to have a stock ECU and proper O2 sensors and a cat. Your car is NOT able to go under hot rod standard because its simply not a hot rod. There was a 1.6 litre engine available in the EF therefore it is not a hot rod. (It does not matter whether it was the B16 or not) Take it for a nice boot around before the test and make sure the cat is warm, make sure your engine has a full tune up plugs wires all that stuff make it run well. If worst comes to worst, your last option if your car is lowered. tell a shop that it wont be able to go onto the rollers and request a dual stage idle test because you feel uncomfortable with it being possible to be damaged. Then it will pass no problem, Mine passed with a spoon chipped ecu. |
my b16 swapped car with chipped ecu passed no problem, so did brads (the prophet) just recently.....but his failed with an aftermarket generic chip, then passed when he put a chip with the stock b16 program and his is an EK converted to obd1 (using only 1 o2 sensor).
Mine passed with a generic chipped p28 (at the time) and stock cat with 2.25" exhaust, crappy dc header and a SRI. |

ohh i like the idea about it being to low and the dual stage idle test instead
car is low so ill trow my crap tires on the 13's should get me about an inch lower :bling: thanks everyone for the input |
mine couldn't pass worth ****

I have never had a problem with them agreeing to test as a hot rod. Ask the "inspector" to test it as a hot rod present reciept (for swap or parts for swap), and they just inspect it. Passed with flying colours.
2 swaps 97 EL OBD1 B16 and 92 EG with the same gen motor both running stock ecu. Good luck. |
i have to go get my car e-tested soon. it had b16, intake, 2.25 piping. the car sounds loud but i guess its just the pi[ing? :S not sure. what you guys suggest i do before i bring it in? new plugs and wires? also my parents use to own a car dealership. when their cars wouldnt pass they would take it to a performance fuel place and they can hook you up with some high octane fuel and make it pass. just bring them the sheet from your e-test so they know what you need.
