axles

ok 2 weeks ago i installed 1 brand new passenger side axle. I went to the track last friday did about 4-5 passes. Today comming into work the car was shaking very bad on the hway just barly made it to my work parking lot. As i pulled into the parking lot i heard a crunch noise and than the car couldnt move again. the vibration was comming from the passenger side. I can still get the tranny into to gerar and everything. could it possible that the tranny is gone, the brand new axle again? what do u guys think.

Always make sure you lock the axle into the tranny.

If the car isn't moving any more while in gear, it could be clutch. If the tranny was engaging then you would still hear some banging as the engine revs cuz the driveshaft(s) would try to spin.

Could be deferrential.. A lot of things. You need to get it up on jacks and inspect it.

Any fluids leaking out now? Still vibrating?

i'd go with the axle being the culprit. was it making a lot of clicking noises as you made turns?

when my axle blew, i was sitting at a light, made a right turn... hit the gas and mid-way through the turn the car shook and then crunch and yeah, it stopped moving... my car could move forward and backwards still, but that's because of me having an LSD tranny because the one axle will still spin, but without, both axles need to be locked in place. another thing i believe you can try and to put the car in gear and take off the e-brake and try pushing it... it'll still roll if one of the axles is out of place.

i may be mixing a few things up there, but thats what happened to me just a month and a bit ago... the axle i had separated right at the hub near the wheel... it was messed up pretty bad... if you look under your car, try to visibly see if its messed or just reach in grab a hold of the axle and try to move it around.

Tranny goes into gear, no fluids are leaking. But When tranny is in gear car still moves i need the e brake to stop the car from rolling.

well, there it is... its your axle... cause in gear the car never moves... if you leave it in gear and its still moves when you push it then you ****ed your axle. both the splines have to be locked in place for the tranny to spin the cv shafts... soo, it will just keep rolling.. when you take it out, it'll prob be fliopping around or in two pieces like mine.

thing is, the one that broke on me was only a month and a half old so it was pretty new too... well, just go get an axle and get that fixed...

jack up the car and take a look.. not hard to tell if a driveshaft is snapped or popped out.

driver side axle was mangled, passenger axle was broken right in half. bought some stage 2 axles to insure i wont get stuck again. Also noticed 2 engine mounts are pretty much cooked, changing those with after market vibrant mounts. Im assuming broken engine mounts would cause alot of wheel hop and cause for brand new axles to break.
