attn track guys, front sway/springrate question

Hi guys, Ive got an integra with a high front spring rate (450lb) the Koni Reds that are on the car cant keep up, and the car is quite bouncy. It sees some track use, and Ive heard some guys removing the front sway bar to combat understeer. Will this decrease my effective front spring rate and let the shocks do their job, or should I just shell out for lighter springs (G/C coils)?

By removing the front sway bar, you are making the front end more soft as the wheels are now travelling more independently without the tie. But with both front and back sway bars, the car will feel more stable.

I would upgrade to Koni yellows.

To combat this at this stage, lower your entry speed at corners and try to exit the corner earlier and apply gas, thus shifting the weight to the rear and relief the front tires stress.

Also try to do all your braking while still going straight before you enter the corner. Or you could try turning up your rear brake bias if you have a adjuster.....this will allow you car to turn a bit better while mid-corner braking.

That too.

What I do sometimes is use left foot braking while cornering, to keep the car in balance if I am exiting too fast.

Yup!

Was at mosport this weekend...there was a suzuki swift racing around and he had his foot to the floor from the front straight all the way to turn 3!!! He just blipped the brake occasionally in turn 1...LOL

And you could see the rear of his car just slightly step out in the corner.....guy is a great driver...kept up to much higher hp cars in the corners and kept up ok on the straights cause he could keep up his cornering speed....cool stuff!

Yeah I saw that guy too. He was bloody fast. Speaking of fast, where did that s2000 come from in the enduro, Ive never seen that in the reigionals before. Nice car, and well put together! Okay so i'll stick with the front sway. Im more concerned about the ride comfort on the street right now. Its really bouncy. I think I need softer springs, or stiffer valving.

I'd go softer spring if it were me....

The s2k i'm not sure....the first driver they had in the car was a pro driver...he was laping mosport in 1:31's, the 2nd driver for the s2k in that race was the owner who was lapping at 1:44's lol.

Big difference in the drivers eh.

The red and white civic si (the new one), I know one of the guys on that team. That car is running a k24 with about 220-240whp. What a fast car!!! SO LOUD!!! It won the endurance race too!

We had a good look at that civic in the pits....what a sick car!

I'll try to post up a vid...
