Apexi Ws2 Catback Question

Apexi Ws2 Catback Question
I did some research and talked to a few shops and learned that the WS2 full catback system available for EK coupes will not fit the sedans. Otherwise, most catbacks made for coupes usually fit the sedans as well but not in this case.
Does anyone have some idea as to why?
I am guessing...that it is because of the difference in the exhaust manifold on the Y8 and Y7 motors. The Y7 manifold has the cat built-in into it whiel the Y8's is under the car.
So in order to install the WS2 on my sedan...i am thinking i might have to get either an SI or an aftermarket d-series header altogether?
Any thoughts on this? can this be the reason or there is something else.
Thanks in advance

I would have to say that your assumption is most liekly correct on that one. truthfully to run the full ehaust on a d16y7 you need after market or si header.....after market catalytic and you need to extend the secondary o2 sensor

Salman, if all you need is to shorten the pipe, then it would be easy, but in this case, you need to add length for your DX sedan.
I would almost get a Y8 exhaust manifold and match things up that way. Or get an aftermarket header for cheap.

yes yes neil..i didnt miss it but forgot to mention it in my last post. i am just reading some archived posts in the performance section at the moment and mostly people are using magnaflow high perf. cats on their civics...so i might get that one.
in contrast...i am giving a second thought to getting a ws2 muffler only, a high flow cat and going with custom 2.5" piping...after swapping the manifold.

Salman, if a new car is in the agenda, then just get a muffler and call it a day, don't spend more than you need to.

For 1.6liter, I would go no more than 2.38" piping. Even 2.25" mandrel band is very nice, compare to stock 2.25" crush band.

I/H/E is very crucial to a Y7. Turbo magazine did a test where they swapped in a Y8 intake and exhaust manifold and put an Apexi N1 (2.5 inch diameter i believe) and it gained 15 hp at the wheels. All these mods did wonders to fix the Y7's funky power band.
I'm not sure of Chris' claims of drastically reduced low end. I would like to see some empirical evidence to back this up vis a vis 2.5 inch cat back.
