just go to crappy tire and get/rent a spring compressor and do it yourself
its not that hard
coilovers are very easy to install
only difficulty is removing the parts that were previously on

I'll second PM'ing loudsubz. If you have never swapped out suspension before, have him do it and learn.

Do it yourself.

It's easy, as long as the bolts don't break

ITS NOT THAT EASY.

I have been working on cars for almost 5 years, and I decided to do my coilovers a few months ago. YOU CAN Do it, don't think that you can not but it took me a good whole day.

if you are gonna do it, make sure you're prepared to set a day aside, and as long as you have an air compressor and all the proper tools. The job is a pain in the azzzzz

IMO
Go to any shop, you'll pay about 150 which is worth paying for, you get your ride back slammed in a few hours, no sweat

i think speedtech charges $160 but shop around you'll find a better price

the only thing hard about it is rust and its effects on bolts... then popping the stock springs off... i just get a towel and cover the top hat while releasing the top nut... just dont top it at your head cause you'll be in a lot of pain....

i do all my work without air tools as well so you dont even "need" them... i installed my coilovers a few weekends ago in about 2 hours

hahah poppin off the springs is pretty fun.

well nice if you did it in 2 hours, without air tools you must work pretty damn fast.i'd like to see it done myself.

truthfully the average person will not be able install it in 2 hours, especially without air tools.

The guy at Speedtech did my 03 Civic in 40min. Loudsubz and I did my 98 Civic in 2 hours. If you know exactly what you are doing and have the proper tools and no rusted or seized bolts, it can easily be done in under 2 hours.

Yep, I also installed my suspension alone, without any air tools, and it take about 2 hours, except if a bolt is stucked

I did it 4 times this summer on my car... first time, I broke 4 of the 6 rear bolts
But that was not the firt time, so I had bought 6 new bolts a the dealer before getting started
Here, they are about 7$ each

2 hours by hand tools? lol i call a bs on this one, even if all bolts were not seized, hand tools are still slow, im not saying anything is wrong with them, heck ive used it on a few ocassions i dont want to power up my air comp, but it takes me alot longer, maybe its the fact i tirque all my bolts down after.

And 40 min for a 01 + civic? was it just one guy working on it?

if you're swapping out complete shock assemblies (true coilovers) then 2 hrs should be more than enough time, including a break for lunch if you are swapping springs only AND require the use of a spring compressor AND you have no air tools AND you're working alone... you're looking at about 6 hours (of which compressing the springs by hand w/o air tools will take about 3 hours).

LordM and CivicSiR did my install..took about 2-3 hours. They took their time and made sure they didn't break any bolts and used anti seize to make sure i would be able to get them off if i ever wanted to.

well technically when i did the coilovers it was less then 2 hours... i was some what rushing cause it was late...

but i mean each rear corner is 4 bolts...each front corner 4 bolts... plus lugs... its not that much work really... coilovers are also easier cause you can just set them on the lowest setting pop em in...

obviously its more if you have springs though
