anyone have this problems with skunk2 coilovers?

I have a 02 SiR lowered with Skunk2 coilovers. I recently noticed that the red coating on the spring has started to flake off. About 30% of it is gone from the spring and it has started to rust. I've emailed Skunk2 about it and I'm currently waiting for a reply. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem?

never heard of that... must be a defective set...skunk2 is usually knowen for better quality products than that...Ive seen some used skunk2s before go through a few winters and still look brand new.... Im sure they will replace them...sux tho cuz its more work now to replace them, I hope they dont ask for yours on a return before they replace them, otherwise the car will either sit, or ull have to put oem springs back in for the meantime, which will create 3 times as much work... arrg..thats a bit of a dilema...

maybe they will let you purchace new ones, then give you a full refund when you return the old ones...

do you do your own suspension work or do you pay somone??

My friend has the Skunk2 coils on his Teg and after last winter they are still fine, no rust. Mind you, he sprayed his several times over the winter.

good maintenence^^^^^^^ spraying the salt off all winter is the best thing you can do to keep the threads clean, also protecting the paint on the springs

i spray it at least 1 every 2 weeks during the winter at those self serve car wash places. I keep them clean because I've heard about coilovers seizing. Someone else from EP hatch is also having the same problem. It's only the rear springs that are doing this. The front ones are still perfect. Hope skunk2 gets back to me soon.

EDIT. BTW the problems are on the springs not the threaded sleeves

Nope, I never raise the car up during winter season.
