any truth to this?

I'm gonna change my front upper arms and I was reading on another site that the front upper arms from a 90-93 integra fit my 89 hatch and make the camber a little better at the same time. does anyone know if this is true?

imported_gatherer 22-Aug-2003 12:24 PM

upper a arms affect castor ..... well they also affect camber but camber can be adjusted back castor can't.....

I'm going to guess your next question is what is castor?? but I'm going to wait till it's asked... (I'm lazy)

nah i have a hayne's manual for that hehe...anyways i need to get the control arms now but i dont have my card to get the discount from parkway...i found some place at st. claire and weston that sells aftermarket ones for $90 which is $5 less then the honda ones w/ tcc discount. BUT, i dont know if these are good aftermarket parts or shitty things.

red90dx 22-Aug-2003 03:32 PM

yes they fit, but everyone I know is having problems with negative camber,

why dont you try EX brakes? get the knuckes and hubs and you are set.

shlammed 22-Aug-2003 03:51 PM

its ok i dont want the integra arms anymore after i called and they said $155 each heh

punkindrublic 22-Aug-2003 05:12 PM

just pick them up from a wrecker and save your bling bling

shlammed 22-Aug-2003 05:50 PM

i dont think i want used control arms

punkindrublic 23-Aug-2003 01:47 AM

they are only gonna become used.... why pay to have them shiney for the first week they are installed?? take them to honda and they can press or however it is they get the upper bal joint it for you....

00 Civic SiR 23-Aug-2003 09:30 AM

I would just stick to Honda OEM parts. Can't go wrong.

shlammed 23-Aug-2003 09:41 AM

if they are used who knows how long they will last...id rather have new ones.

punkindrublic 23-Aug-2003 09:52 AM

the arms themselves do not "wear" persay its the ball joint within that does

shlammed 23-Aug-2003 10:45 AM

yes and what you're missing is that on 4th gens, the upper balljoints aren't replacable...only the lower ones are.

punkindrublic 23-Aug-2003 10:48 AM

if you have the right machine/tool can't you replace the upper ball joint??

although on all civics between 88-2000 the upper ball joints are the same... or have the same design anyways

shlammed 23-Aug-2003 08:58 PM

well, the haynes manual and both shops i took it too say if its the upper u gotta replace the whole arm. only the lower are replacable.

punkindrublic 24-Aug-2003 12:16 AM

you could be right.... i thought i heard that somewhere....

are the shops you went to trustworthy?? they could be trying to scam more money? i guess honda would be the best place to ask.... parkway honda for discounts too hahaha

imported_gatherer 24-Aug-2003 04:44 AM

Punk he is right .... the whole upper arm has to be replaced when replacing upper ball joints

punkindrublic 24-Aug-2003 10:56 AM

well now i know.... and knowing is half the battle
