Any suggestions?

Hey guys,

Well my girlfriend bought a 99 civic dx hb and it runs really well when your driving but when you put it into reverse ( it'a an auto) then the idle droppes and sometimes when I come to a stop but not as bad. I see on the site that alot of you have problems with the IACV, could that be what this is or does it sound like something else, also the shifter when you go to put it into reverse it seems to get stuck, not bad ofcoarse because it always goes in but enough to make you think about it, should that be looked at or is it just one of those things.

thanks in advance

Well it turns out it was a motor mount just FYI, well so far but it still shakes and they say it has to be broken in first, have you heard of this before or are they full of crap.

Umm I have never heard of motor mounts needed to be broken in. When you say it shakes is it when your in reverse and just creeping the car backwards with no gas?

shops will say anything so that they don't have a 'come back'. Technically a mount will break in.. but if your car is still shaking.. that particular mount was not the problem

^^^ exactly... even if the mount needs a break in period it wouldn't feel exactly like it did before. If anything I would think it would be stiffer with more vibrations (not shakes) and then after the break in period it would soften up a bit.
