Antifreeze is leaking!! Someone help please!!!

My antifreeze is leaking, and I just checked my oil level is rising a bit when I checked it. My friend said it might be the head gasket, but I am not quite sure. Anyone have any idea?? And he said it's cheaper to buy a used engine than to replace the head gasket if that is the problem. PLEASE HELP!!

what color is your oil, if it looks like a chocolate milkshake, then you have a head gasket problem. and no, replacing the head gasket is better than a used engine

Well I think it might be leaking into my oil so I think it's the head gasket. I was talking to some of my friends and they said it might be my rad, because I did get it changed a couple of weeks ago and they might have not aired it out?? But I'm pretty sure it's the head gasket.. hopefully it will last me a while until I save up some cash to get it fixed

if they didn't "bleed" the rad system then yes it will go down as it pushes the air out itself...

now check the color of both the rad fliud and the oil and get back to us. Bbarbulo has it right...

can't tell if the head gasket is gone if we don't know whether or not the fliuds are mixing.

Short the service connector and get the CEL code.

Service connector can be shorted by using a paperclip.

Can be found in passenger foot well to the right.

Bottom right corner of the glovebox.

if it was on before was it reset after the gasket was changed?

The shop that did the work should have told you about that.

Take it back pronto.

What did you pay for the work?

Why should the shop have said something? If a vehicle goes into a place and you say either fix my head gasket or my coolant keeps going low - they won't scan the car - no need. The CEL is a differnt problem - 2 different concerns , 2 different diagnoises.

Was the CEL before it went in, or was it on right after it came out. Or did it come on later?!?!

The CEL is probably directly related to the head gasket replacement. They might have forgot to plug in one of the sensors or solenoids from when they had the head removed.
