Another Gas (Running rich) quesiotn :(

I have moved to London for studying, now I need to regularly going back to toronto, so Gas is a biggie for me now.

Question 1, I got a 96 Ek hatch, with B16 swapped in it. I have heared that the fuel tank size is 45 L, but why my needle reach the bottom with only 30L used up.
Plus, there was once I tried to go pass the limit (I keep driving when then needle reach the bottom, I don't think my gas empty warning light is working, because it never lights up) and my engine shuts off while I was going in natural. It was scary, so after that I have never tried to pass the 30 L limit, and it never shuts off again. The question is: is my tank size only 30L? there must be some people have 96 EK hatch.

Question 2. I know that when I brought the car, the ECU was chipped. The previous owner said that it is a Spoon ECU, I have no idea what;s the difference between all these kinds of different chip, but I know the basic function for chipped ECU is to alter the fuel mapping and remove the limit. However the result of altering the fuel mapping is increasing fuel consumption. I have only intake and exhaust. I am just wondering how would I know if I am running rich.
I have about 1L/10.5KM ( not beating the car most of the time and about 50/50 highway and local driving) Will I get a significant increase in fuel economy if I have a stock chip?

Question 3:
I am always feeding her with 94 OCT. IS it a good thing to do? or not? can someone provide me the real fact with prove. I am confused. isn't 94 oct suppose to have less carbon build up and easy burning property?

Thanks for reading all this LONG LONG story and please bare with my Sxxxty english.

Thank you

3) don't use higher grade fuel if there is no need for it. If 91 octane doesn't give you knocking, then it is fine.

1. Not sure about the fuel tank size
2. Yes a stock chip should give you a increase in fuel economy, right now its not looking to bad though. You are getting fairly close to me (b16 with stock chip) I get around 10-13km/l
3. 94 is fine, its not going to do any harm especially on a b16, but like Nova Said. It's not absolutely necessary. 91octane would be just as sufficient.

1. how do you know you only use up 30L?

2. Get a stock ecu map put on your ecu (pm zeeman for more info. he can do it for cheap) You're spoon chip is probably one of the most stupid mods to do to a car. It really doesn't create more power, just richens up the mixture, to get more power you need to properly tune it (im sure zeepos will write an article on this though)

3. Don't use 94.. use 91octane. Theres no sense in using 94 when you don't need it.

All 5th and 6th gen Civics are 45L. 40L w/ 5L reserve.

Only the Si (I think) had low fuel lights. I know the CX didn't have it, not sure about the DX.

and Chris, he probably knows he uses only 30Ls because everytime he fills up, that's all he can get in until the pump handle pops.

Personally, I would fill 89 octane in it and just don't rev the **** out of it. Knock won't occur until like 7-8K if that.

The EX model definetly has the low fuel light as well. I don't think I have ever filled over 35 Litres unless I absolutely pushed the car to the very limit of the tank and in that case I'd be lucky to put in 40L.

He runs a b16 swap so I'd say he has to run atleast 91

Not necessary as long as he doesn't hit redline all the time.

And yeah EX sedans do have them. Surprized to hear an EX Coupe which is an SI doesn't have one.
