Unhappy alternator's problem

I changed my battery and finally found out it was my alternator
bascially for an alternator, is it a common thing to get buzzed?
for a 4 years old 65000KMs car....
I'm afraid its not just the alternator, its something like the wires and stuff.. if its the wires problem
the garage told me they have to check the wires one by one..and it will cost me a lot...
BTW, the alternator cost me $510 including installation....
its a rape!@@

EWWWWWWWWWWWWW I paid like $300 for my custom made 145A at idle alternator and you dont even have to use your stock alt. harness you just run 1 wire from the alt to the + battery terminal. You got RAPED.

There is a wiring harness that goes under the intake manifold and it comes from the alternator to the fuse box. It has a tendecy to wear through and blow a 7.5A fuse and nothing works. If it is a honda dealer, honda put out a bullitin on it and how to correct the problem, find the worn out part, tape it up and change the fuse. I would check the fuses first before anything. The weird thing is though, the fuse that blows, has no label on it telling you that it is an alternator. I think that the fuse number is 13 but I am not too sure. Somthing to check!!

no I mean alternator my friend...I did a starter on the side of the road aswell...well whatever "normal" people pay for parts I feel bad cuz I guess I know the markup on them and what u paid is mad rediculous no doubt

and an alternator can last anwhere from 2yrs to 10 depending on how the car is used, maintained, battery condition etc.

on my old car I put over 200,000km on the same alternator

my buddy got a new alternator a week ago for like $125 US and we installed it in like 30 minutes..

hey cynikal.... he has an ED hatch SI like you.... what did u remove to get the alternator out?..... whe got it unbolted but there were mad hoses blocking the way so there was no place to pull it out.... so we unbloted the master cylinder and moved it to the side... then it slid out....

As Scarlemthug so nicely put it - you got raped. I can get rebuilt ones from a shop near Dixie and Eglinton for $90 bucks....

Which isn't so much of a consolation to you right now.

Lets just say - you should ALWAYS ask here first before bringing it to a shop.

You can squeaze it beside the drive axle and exhaust on the bottom, no need to remove anything, its a push but it goes through
