There are three things you should be concerned about.
1. Does the electrical connector have the same plug? I'd be surprised, since once is OBD1 and the other OBD0, but I have been surprised before. You may be able to splice the new plug into your harness if they are not the same.
2. Is the pully the same diameter, and is it in the same location?
3. Are the mounting holes in the same place?
1 is easy to check.
for 2 & 3 you will need the alternators out of the vehicle. You should lay the alternators out beside one another and put a pencil through the top holes of both alternators and through the bottom holes of both alternators. If you can do this without the pencils being mis-aligned, it will physically bolt into your car.
You will then need to check pulley diameter, and swap pullies if necessary.
You might be further ahead going to one of the japanese engine importers like lucky star with your old alternator and asking them for a replacement.
