alternator and belt issue !

alternator and belt issue !

welll heres the story first time my alternator belt came loose i tightened up the first bolt for the clamp to the block. then it came loose again! and this time i tightened it up and tightened the belt up and it still makes that wining sound ! could a worn out belt cause this sound or is it the alternator thats fuked ? thanks guys

it will make that sound if you over tighten it. rule of thumb when it comes to drive belts and stuff. they should be able to be turned almost 90 degrees. any less, it's too tight and any more, it's too lose.
