I saw this on another site about winter tires. Is there anything in Consumer Reports for all-season tires?



Reason I'm going for all-season? I'm going away for school and my car will be left behind. My dad will be driving it occasionally every couple of weeks to keep it running smooth. All-seasons are the best comprimise and I wanted to know which were the best out there.

Continental Conti Extreme Contact, Yokohama AVS dB S2, Yokohama Avid, Dunlop Sport A2, just to name a few. I'm looking at getting a set of the Conti's myself. My Kumhos suck in my opinion. I'm willing to sacrifice a little handling for a better ride, and all weather traction.

I had the Yoko Avid T4's on my old car and was very happy with them in all conditions, including ice and snow.

what does everyone think of crappy tires snow tires ? Nordic tires i believe are they good or bad?? can anyone tell me

i have the nordic icetrac, i havent driven them in the snow but tried them on dry pavement and they stick like crazy

motormaster aw+ are pretty good in the snow... i got them on my car... they grip nice too on dry pavement

Anything from Crappy tire is decent.. like winter wise.. they'll get you from point A to B, but they wear out hella faster than anything high end.. so in the end, you may get 2-3 seasons from crappy tire tires, and 3-4 seasons off higher end tires...

I just ordered the Falken Ziex 512 high performance all-seasons. According to Consumer Reports latest test, they were number 1 in the all season category beating out tires from all the big companies such as Bridgestone, Pirelli, Michelin, Yokohama, Goodyear, Dunlop, etc.

I also read some of the reviews on 1010tires.com and they seem to be pretty good for all seasons. Very good grip in braking situations, pretty good in the rain and very decent in the snow. Apparently they have fairly good handling characteristics but from what I've read some people think they could stand to have stiffer sidewalls. I figure I should be fine with these tires. I'll be receiving the V-rated version.

One things for sure... they'll be ten times better than the crapass michelin XGT V4s that came with my civic.

All-seasons eh? Wait until January when the BFGoodrich Traction T/A series tires come out. They're supposed to be quite good. AA traction rating, 440 treadwear, performance tread pattern... Check 'em out: www.tirerack.com

Good tires (I'm running them right now) but they suck in the wet when the tread starts to wear -- which is fairly quick. I love the responsiveness of the tires from the stiff sidewalls. If they lasted more than 30,000km or cost a bit less I'd probably buy another set (already been through a set and a half).

The BFG Traction T/A's I mentioned are supposed to offer similar performance to the Pilots with longer treadlife and better wet & snow traction.

I wanted Toyo Proxys, for every season but snow. There a bit pricey, im still in search of a set for the winter seasons. Im probably gonna get some Micheleans or something.

Just picked up the Falken Ziex 512 tires from Purolator yesterday. These are supposed to be pretty quiet all seasons. I'm probably going to have them mounted next week. Let's hope they live up to the hype.
