Ok nice list, I bookmarked it...

Now question for anyone who may know... physically how do you tell these engines apart... they are all h22a's with different specifications... Im assuming there must be a year stamped in the engines serial number?? and were would one look for this, and which digits are the year...?

H22A 2.2 16V DOHC VTEC PGM-FI 2157 220hp@7200rpm 163tq@6500rpm '97-'01 Prelude SiR (JDM)

isn't the car's vin it came from on the engine? correct me if I'm wrong but there is a VIN info look up in some forum (I forget which one) but it's probably the best way to know what it came from.. that is if I'm correct about VIN's being on engines

I got this in my hooptie:

BT 2.0 12V SOHC PGM-FI 1955 110hp@5500rpm 114tq@4500rpm '86 Accord LX-i (USA)
'86 Prelude Si (USA)

It definitely feels like WAY more than what it claims here It feels like 125hp and about 140tq... must be the tranny and the low weight or something, it feels like a beast!

hey bbarbulo, do you know how the engine year/ serial number system works on honda engines... just what gatherer
and myself were sorta discussing..??

like is there a way to tell what year the engine is beside the h22a, h22, h23 ect codes..?

you can tell by the VIN # what engine the chassis was equipped with, but you can't tell on the engine alone what year it is.

US models have numbers after the H22A# designation, JDM engines generally do not.

Other than that, I've never shopped for H22s AND I prefer USDM engines over JDM, so..... I dunno. Surely there would be a plethora of info on the web like there is for B16s, but you won't find it on the Hybrid Resource site cuz they are very much against H22s in Civics.

right, well the reason im asking is cuz my best freind just took out a 5g loan to put into his 92 lude, and of course that means out with the f22 in with the h22a, I didnt realise there was variations to the h22a...

taking out a loan to soup up a car that already drives... that is a hair-brained scheme if I ever seen one Man, talk about the WRONG way to go about it.
