airride or coil over?

i wanna place a new suspension system, old adjustables out, new electonically adjustables in. but i'm having doubts if i should get airride or electronically adjustable Tein coil overs, i 'm thinking to go for the Tein suspension, but i'm nut really sure. If it would be Tein, it will be the Super Streets i will be buying together with the EDFC. What do you guys think?

Unless its a show car, I'd stick with coilover suspension. Don't get me wrong here, bags are cool, but not really necessary. Everyone says teins rust, but that just might be the springs, I dunno.

Are you really going to be adjusting your suspension that often? If not, you really don't need the EDFC. Just remember everytime you change you suspension, your toe, and camber usually changes.

If you change your ride height a lot, means 1 of 2 things.

1) Your either going be doing a lot of alignments

2) Your going to be spending a lot of money on tires

it's not that i'm gonna adjust them allot, but i don't wanna have all the work of taking my wheels of to adjust the, i'm kinda lazy :D, those damn safety-bolds on my rims are hard to get loose. i know i need to change my cambers and stuff. I have adjustables now from APC , is kinda cool, but still need to remove my rims to adjust them.

the concepts civic has air bags and i can tell you this, it is the worst ride ever. NEVER would i bag my car.

Dr.K 06-Aug-2005 12:18 PM

Ya. Screw airbag's. There purely for show.

imported_EG4door 06-Aug-2005 12:33 PM

Bags on a Civic is gay.

BTW: The EDFC controler will only adjust your dampening, not your ride height. But it's still pimp. :p I'll be getting the EDFC next year. :)

IMO air bags are no good for handling.

SteveZ 07-Aug-2005 03:56 PM

springs

Gunmetalef 07-Aug-2005 06:53 PM

what you planning on doing with the car though?

k_r_a_c_k_e_r 07-Aug-2005 10:01 PM

What are you planing to do with your car?. do you like to show it off or handle good?. with air ride you can still handle as good as stock suspension. with my civic slammed it handles amazing and stops on a dime. and as for alignments and tires. after you get your air ride installed. you find a hight that you like to drive the car at and have it aligned and everytime you lift your car to that hight it keeps the alignment and doesnt use your tires. and as for the ride being like ****. thats a lie. my car rides like a caddy. you just have to find the right hight.

and BTW. if the car is done right. air ride on a civic isnt gay.

P.S. with a full set up your adding about 300+ lbs.

Brainwreck 08-Aug-2005 04:27 AM

it's not really for showing off, but rather for saving my bumpers and stuff when i'm driving up the sidewalk to park and stuff, also i want to be able to adjust my suspension when i'm driving at high speed, it has to hang really low for the best aerodynamics, and the damping has to be adjustable so i can make it stick on the road :D

greetz

bbarbulo 08-Aug-2005 10:51 AM

air ride is not for going fast. when it fails, which *could* happen, and you're going fast.... you die. the end. LOL

kracker has built his car with the right intentions and whatnot.... he chose the right setup for himself. in your case.... I don't think air ride is for you.

Gunmetalef 08-Aug-2005 11:06 AM

agreed air ride is pure show nothing but... i've seen **** happen on the highway with airride and its scary

k_r_a_c_k_e_r 08-Aug-2005 02:17 PM

I think the Coilovers are better for you. and as "bbarbulo" and "gunmetalef" have said, if you air ride fails at a high speed it can be bad. I had mine fail and I almost took out a few cars and shot across 4 lanes while my rear end was drifing all over the highway. its not fun.

Brainwreck 13-Aug-2005 04:25 PM

coil over it will be ;), thx for the advise guys

imported_SIR_Injected 14-Aug-2005 10:30 AM

coilovers are still garbage with air bag's cuz you can never sit your car 100% on coilovers .. but still you have a chance to move up during the winter year if your going to drive it threw that

imported_kumanan 14-Aug-2005 11:02 AM

waitttt... you can raise and lift your car with this tein **** ?

imported_kumanan 14-Aug-2005 11:06 AM

hmmm air ride costs $2500 for 03 civics .. the air strut kind + kit ii

its too expensive and aint worth it

imported_kIeRaN 14-Aug-2005 11:56 AM

i think teh tein suspension just changes the dampening, u have to jack the car and whatnot to adjust the height
