Air ride suspension

Hi, i was just wondering what the pros and cons are for air bag suspension?

I am not going to be racing my integra, as it is a rs and is automatic

so i am going for peer looks + ride quality, is this the way to go in my situation?

How much would airbag suspension cost?

any help is greatly appreciated!.

in addition, does anyone have any experience in this field? has anyone used air suspension before?

other options i was thinking about was

omni power coilovers

or

Koni Yellow's + springs (H&R or Neuspeed or Eibach springs)

which is best for the price? (most important how much would air bags cost?)

from what i've heard, air suspension is a rougher ride than getting some nice stock suspension... but i don't have it so i don't really know... i am running on kyb agxs with apex springs... i would ditch the apex springs and go with eibach cause i heard that the pro-kits were designed for that setup... well, when i set it on soft, the ride is real nice... so i dunno, you may be better going that route... koni yellows are nice and my buddy has some h&r springs on his SIR and they slam the car and it rides smooth too.. and i don't know about this omni power brand... kinda seems like an obx or megan racing or something... i haven't heard the name enough to warrant purchasing a set-up as expensive as the ones i have seen. i may be wrong and it may just be a specific brand so correct me if i'm wrong... well, thats all i have to say...

Well. I guess I'll try and anser your questions as Im one of TCC's only bagged civic.

if your looking for pure looks. air ride is the way to go. no matter where you are. you'll get looks. the ride isnt the best (Im in cylinders) and they ride some what clucky and bouncy. I cant vouch for air struts but I'v heard they have alot better ride, but cost wise they cost more and they dont go as low as cylinders.

coil overs or springs and shocks are just totaly different. eather you want air ride. or you dont. you cant compare springs to air ride.

as for the cost. call "Altered Altitude Customs" at 1-866-***-N-LOW. there the only guys around here that specialize in doing imports. the cost of a half decent kit would be around $2500 plus install.

as for pros and cons. here my list.

PRO

- gets looks
- to much fun at stop lights
- harder to steal (if you do the right switches)

well. I donno. pros. its looks kool! lmfao..

CON

- leaks
- broken air lines
- ****ty ride over bumps
- wears car down faster (bushings, ball joints)
- not a good idea for a winter driven car

any more questions PM.

and also. My air ride kit may-be going up for sale aome time in JAN. but to the next ride.

thank you very much, sorry im kinda new to the TCC and dont know the forum all that well, i come on mainly to look at what ppl are selling and dont really post all that often, thank you for your help.

The winter driving part, just made my decision much easier. Therefore i believe i will go for

koni yellows + springs or omni power coilovers

i just havent decided, the konis are like 200 more.

hey just a heads up, a car with air can be drivin in the winter, as long as you have a water trap on your system. Also, the only issues i've had in the cold is the valves tend to stick at times...but if your into air ride, i would definately recommend it...best mod i've done in terms of fun factor!

btw, kracker, i've been on air for a couple years too

i'm on cans, i had one cylinder start leaking last winter (car was stored too), probably from sitting...

i've never tried air struts, but like kracker said i hear they are supposed to improve the ride quality a lot. I find cylinders to be pretty rough, but can be a pretty good ride if you find the right spot...

i'm running 8 smc 3/4" valves, smc water trap, 5 gal tank, vair 280 compressor (too small but it works), 4 switches custom mounted...

aznegg: it's really not THAT hard to install, but the hard part is getting it air tight...

btw, there was someone in the classifieds selling a complete kit for 1600....

btw, Rob from Altered Altitude Customs is a good guy that really knows his stuff...i'd recommend them if you were to get anything professionally done..

yeah. its not hard to install. you learn really fast how things work.

and BTW. if you do buy a used kit. get someone who knows about air ride to go and check it out with you. I know a few ppl who have been screwed over buying used air ride kits.

basically i was dumb for buying the **** without seeing it first...
the guy i bought it from kind of just slapped a bunch of **** together that he could find in his shop.. he told me this wicked deal and that oh ill give u a chrome tank n that.. whatever.. so i go to pick everything up and he didnt have it together yet.. so he gives me the cylinders and the front 1's are all chewed to ****.. looks like they hit somewhere on his car.. so that was all good.. then he comes out with this powdercoated tank n is like yah this is what u get.. the chrome 1 will be $1000 more.. lol
at this point i was like ok man just **** off whatever ive paid u now give me my ****..
the only good thing that came out of it was i got 8 new 1/2'' valves out of it.. and a new switchbox because he couldnt find that either

from my point of view, it isnt worth it to spend $3000+ on air ride for a an eg valued at 500-3000 or an ek valued at 3500-8000. just my opinion. I'd rather spend less money then that on an engine swap.

Guys this is Rob@AAC. If any of you have any questions or anything feel free to give me a shout at the shop.

We dont mind helping anybody out regardless if you are going to buy from us or not. I will give you straight up answers no bull****.

If you do have the proper setup you can drive in the winter without problems. I have done it many winters with my many different eg's.

If you do get air ride you can use all the parts on a different vehicle and just sell the struts. So you can always bag another vehicile down the road.

As far as ride quality, yes cylinders will get you low, but they will not ride the best.. But the new airlift adjustable air struts ride awesome if they are tuned and installed properly. I had a wicked deal on a couple full digital kits [works awesome] that i was letting go of also. Anyways let me know if you need help making a decision on what type of suspension is right for you.

Thanks
Rob@AAC
