Question air/fuel meter ?

Hello-

I recently got a autometer z-series A/F ratio gauge from a friend and was wondering if it would work w/ my civic or if there is some way to make it work. The problem is that it is designed for a narrowband O2 setup. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

ok... and what's the problem... narrowband O2 gauge, and a narrowband equipped Civic....

seems to me you don't have a problem.

I thought that civics run a wideband O2, or am incorrect.

The car itself is not setup w/ a narrowband O2, just the gauge is for narrowband 02.

I'm a little confused, and apologize if I get you guys confused.

it's a 4-wire 02 sensor if that helps.

you are incorrect....

TWO model civics run wideband, the 92-95 VX and the 96-00 HX

and since the HX didn't make it to Canada, and the VX is really rare... I think you're ok

here is a tip, 5 wire = wideband, 4 wire = heated O2

Thanks again, I was lead to believe that if it is a single wire 02 it is narrowband, and if it has more than 1 wire it is widebrand.
much mahalos.

oh no... 1 wire is non heated narrow band, there is also 2 and 3 wire ones... non heated and heated.

but yeah wideband has a MINIMUM of 5 wires. they are very sensitive and must be heated correctly so as not to damage it.

ya good luck, i had a a/f meter in my 98 LX... just pull a wire from the ECU to the gauge and it works nice.

I just pulled out all that junk... I'm converting mine to wideband later on

what does a narrowband a/f meter do actually?
Can you tell anything from it? o.O or is it actually just a light show
