you pick illumina for performance, and you pick AGX for lower cost

this parts store i called said the failure rate of an illumina is higher than an agx. they see more tokiko products being returned than kybs and have yet to see a koni product with a problem. anyhow, koni is beyond my budget and amar said he can get me the illuminas for the same price as the kybs so i'm still undecided on what to get.

who cares if they get returned? illumina's come with a lifetime warrenty... i've personally had zero problems with mine and they were on race springs for many months... no leaking or anything weird... another bonus about illumina's is that there warrenty isn't void if you wanna lower more then 1.5" like the axg's do

That was my reason for choosing AGXs...I've only had them on for a month so there's nothing wrong with them so far.

you can lower your car more with illuminas and they won't blow like AGx's. I went with illumina. Researched that for a while.

except for the calling around part ... generally AGX's are more expensive than Illumina's... never had any PERSONAL experiences with the Tokico's, but haven't heard complaints about them...

had agx's along with H&R sports on my Impreza before and the ride was awsome....

Tokico Illuminas have always been more expensive than KYB AGX shocks... actually a few years ago (4-5 yrs) they were more expensive than Koni Sports too. Maybe times have changed I haven't looked at shocks in a while since I have coilovers. Either way, if Illuminas are cheaper than AGXs, then they are a far better deal, as it's a superior shock for little $$ (if what you guys are saying is true).

looks like I was right about the price

Tokico Illumina shocks 1992 - 2000 Set of 4 adjustable shocks. 429.00 USD

KYB AGX shocks 1996 - 2000 Set of 4 adjustable shocks. 395.00 USD

I don't know who you guys are but tell them to shove their catalogue up their ***. They're jacking up the price of AGX cuz of their growing popularity due to misinformed ricers. The only reason the KYB AGX name got popular is cuz they are cheap and adjustable. Not because they are good and adjustable. And now retailers are taking advantage of that.

well we sell our products at the give price we receive from our supplier, we can't really jack the price of the Tokico's and lower the cost on the AGX's to make things "proper" or how they should be, I dunno man...

go with either

both seem to be great

so whatever your price lets you get

check out ebay, can get agx for a good deal there

just remember: there will always be those who have a product and will only give comments from that side

so you need to do research and see whats good for yourself
