Aem Cold Air Intake ( Help Please)

Hi Guy,

I need some input.

I recently replaced my stock intake with an AEM cold air intake system. I just hooked it up myself . However I do not feel a big differance in the performance.

Do I leave the mud cover out ? When I finished hooking it up I fixed the mug cover which come around the wheel wells back again ? Could this be the reason as I do not see any opennings for the filter to bread .

Please do advise me and excuse if my notes above are silly.

Thank you guys.

Sha:cheers:

i'd recommend you leave the fender liner on as you don't want to suck up water or crap into your engine.

as for feeling a bit difference, you won't unfortunately. it's just a bolt-on that might be good for 2whp if you're lucky.

Hi ,

Thank's for the update but I thought it would give me more power than what I had on .

Atleast this is what it says.

Thank you though for your advise.

none of those intakes give much increase very little i think only if u have done alot of thigns and like have a turbo otherwise it sounds kewl and costs alot

give it a week or two to work in. once the car settles into balance you might notice more even power distribution. like when i put on my header it felt crappy at first, but then i noticed acceleration was a lot more 'even'. i used to have a rut between 3-4k, but the header smoothed it out.

good luck

imported_Bruce Fee 08-May-2007 04:33 PM

you won't notice any increase in performance with just that... it just sounds a lot better.

i have a header (cracked manifold before) and an air intake (driving a civic depressed me, made it sound like something more than a lawn mower)

sharaj 09-May-2007 08:37 AM

Hey,

Thank you guys for all the information that you have given me.

What I drive is a 92 civic and have already hooked up a reactive muffler & the cold air intake next on line is the header maybe once this is hooked up I might feel the boost .

I simply want it to pickup fast instead of you know making a big sound and staying in the same spot which is kind of not cool LOL:D

better acceleration, switch in an si tranny, it will have a shorter gear ratio. if u have an si then ur out of luck for acceleration.

i say build up the suspension and you can fly by anyone on off ramps and highway interchanges. thats the only fun i have

sharaj 09-May-2007 02:01 PM

Hey Guys,

Thanks again.

I really appreciate your support on his.

Bro can you please advise and guide me on the suspension issue. I would really like to know about this subject .

Serioustly I would like to make my car the best ever. I know it's a 92 my family and my friends say I am just wasting money I guess they do not know the feeling of doing something unique like this.

Anyways guys help me out .

Thanks .

Sharaj

disconnect your battery and drive aggressively so it will learn to a better fuel map

or

u can just chip ur ECU to run a higher fuel/air ratio, that would make a difference with ur intake

otherwise it will just give u a little bit of low end torque

sleeper_civic 15-May-2007 04:44 AM

U have an lx civic? So is that the orig. engine? Non-vtec?
Well right there is your problem if that is the case. Slap in a JDM D15B aem cai, headers, 2.25"-2.5" exhaust, suspension, clutch, (si tranny ofcourse) Bore/port match intakemanifold and tb. Then get yourself an adjustable cam gear. & Tune it. Should make 130 whp. +/- If your looking to get 140ish whp slap a cam in.

Let me know if you need anything else im the Single Cam Guru :)

hey with all this heavy rain, how bad is it to drive around with my CAI, i always had a bypass valve on it so i never gave a ****, but it recently broke so now all i have is the fender liner......... i was thinking of just removing the piping that goes down into the fender and just hook my filter onto the shorter upper pipe (so it's pretty much a Short ram).......?? soo the question is....is the fender liner suffecient enough?

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright...

Sadly intakes don't do much on our cars.. neither will a full exhaust, etc.. if anything it would make it accelerate slower in the low-end. Research before you play around with the engine.

Hi Guys ,

A big thank you to all for the info.

about research. Even in our website ( TORONTOCIVCIS) these a basic mods that come in to play .. Muffler / CAI ..really really basic to get you started right and than of course you moove on to the big stuff .

So are you guys trying to tell me this is not correct .

Even when I googled around I saw many stating once you hook up a CAI it would improve perfomance of your car and when I visited the locat auto store and spoke with the clark he told be it would eigther improve performance or it would be fuel efficient one of the 2 .

I am sorry guys to trouble with this but it would be great if we can quote the correct information with regards to CAI in a stock engine .

Thank you guys.
