AEM CAI installed (pics)

I thought that I would enjoy todays weather, and do a little work on my car by installing my CAI. I did it by removing the bumper, not by going through the fender, which I had asked on an earlier post about. The bumper was super easy to remove. 2 bolts, 2 screws, and 6 plugs, and it came right off. Factory intake-box and piping was a cinch, but the big resonator air-box behind the bumper was kind of a bitch. 3 hidden screws, and i really had to yank on it. Going through the fender would have been tough. The CAI was an easy fit once I figured out where everything went. Cleaning the filter was messy. Sounds way cool too, but I haven't driven it yet to test out my *** dyno. I used clamps and rubber connectors from Home Depot because the AEM ones seemed kind of cheap. I have more detailed pics if anyone needs them to help with an install.
Thx.Mike

I got it used. $150 for the CAI with filter + $15 for the K&N cleaner + $20 for the hardware = $185 total. Not bad considering that AEM wants almost $400 for a new one. The *** dyno detected some extra pull from about 4500rpm and up. Sounds a bit louder too. I am thoroughly pleased.

Good going Mike! I was home if you wanted the help, but it looks like you had no problems.

looks good bro, I have a question though, it's about CAI for 1999-2000 civics, how does the air filter get air? Does it get enough air? If you look at the front bumper it only has a cut out in da middle and it's short, plus the cut outs for fog lights but what if u have the lights? How does the air get there? The 1996-1998 like yours has a longer cut in the middle so I totally see how it works.

The air enters through the top and bottom grills, and as it hits the radiator and the condenser, it gets pushed to the side and the intake will suck the air in that way. It does work, I did feel a little improvement, not much, but that is just me and I don't have the AEM. I have an intake and just made expensions like the CAI.
I have the 2000 model, it works the same way or you can always cut that fog light part out and you have massive air flow, some race versions use that for cooling the brakes.
