Advice on MODS

Are INjen intakes CAI any different form say
Raactive? sound wise and hp. The reason I'm asking is that I want to sell my sedan and get something smaller maybe a coupe/hatch (eg). What would you reccomend doing?

Will coilovers fit an eg hatch from a 1999 sedan ?

thanks

Well

I have an Injen on my eg, I haven't experienced any other kinds but I love my intake. If I was to get another car or something I think I would still buy an Injen, Makes a nice sound :)

SiR-Racer 08-Sep-2002 11:06 PM

I'd go with Injen over Ractive. Ractive parts arent exactly high quality.

I'm probably gonna go with the Injen intake on my SiR.

imported_dented dx 09-Sep-2002 03:28 AM

an intake is an intake, the difference is in the filter

imported_JookSingKid 09-Sep-2002 07:20 AM

I agree with Dented on this one.

You can swap intakes all day, and I don't think you would notice a difference, maybe how loud your intake hisses, but thats it.

Save your money, buy an Ractive or Matrix, you be just as pleased, just slap on a AEM sticker, and the spend the $300 you save on something else like a K&N filter for your intake and hardcore steering wheel.

Listen to the wisdom of Dented DX an JookSingKid...

Its true...

Dryer hose works wonders too...

Good for the race car look...

Thanks
All I want is the sound, not too interested in performance
My car is an auto , that's why
Do you have to drill or cut anything to install the CAI?

i've had my Ractive shortie in for less than 3 months..
i'll be ripping the POS out and aiming for the trash probably wednesday..

why you ask?? cuz the stupid aluminum bracket that's supposed to hold it snapped off..

another Ractive complaint that i'm still waiting for a reply from them on.. bought a rear lower..same bracket on each end, so it'll sit at an angle and not do it's intended job..

so, imo..pay the extra that quality is worth and save yourself the headache..

imported_Joker 09-Sep-2002 09:39 PM

No cuttin g/ drilling required?
That's great news!!
One other thing, If I buy an Injen CAI for my 1999 civic sedan. Will it fit a 92-95 hatch or coupe? The reason I'm asking is because the sedan is up for sale
http://www.torontocivics.com/tccforu...&threadid=6001
and I'm looking to get a eg coupe/hatch.

Thanks

Saw that Intake today...

Still have no idea why it would break...

They will probably blame the failure on poor installation...

I will be surprised if you see a replacement...

What can you do....

yeah ractive does suck, but for the difference in price? i agree with Jook Sing Kid, a pipe is a pipe... it's all about the filter, just cuz it didn't come with a bracket isn't worth spending an extra $200 to be a bracket that fits. imo

imported_JookSingKid 10-Sep-2002 02:08 AM

Si Veloz, if you decide to chuck the piping, give it to me, I have a mini-project I'm working on using piping.

I ran with el cheapo Ractive short ram witha dirty filter for months, I just changed my intake a couple days ago...  :smoker:

I never really had any problems with it, but I'm quite happy with my new toy.

you can make a bracket at home depot for less than $5, so being frugal and stretching my dollar, my vote is saving money.

imported_dented dx 10-Sep-2002 02:37 AM

home depot and rona and building box can alomst solve any instal problem.

imported_Joker 10-Sep-2002 06:59 PM

Can someone tell me if a 1999 Civic CAI will fiit an eg hatch/coupe, with some modification. Won't the shoetrt ram fit, and all I'll need is the proper eg cold air extension pipe?
Can someone outline the steps to installing a CAI? It's a 1999 civic sedan.

thanks

Joker
