Adjustable Coilovers for my 03 coupe, which ones are slammable and safe to use?
I dont want to spend alot of money. I dont drive fast. I just like the race car look.

typically the lower you go the more you'll have to spend
kyb agx is a good buy for bang for your buck koni yellow is one of the best you cant really drop much on tokico hp there are quite a few full coilovers, stay away from hayame v1 and v2 cuz they r ****, im not really sure about other hayame tein makes good suspension, but not sure if you can slam on them check 7thgencivic.com and read the sticky's |
I hear megan's are good
|
coilovers
go with ractive!! |
^^^ joke?
if you want to "slam" your car you will have to get the koni yellows. kyb's arent meant for that much of a drop and will blow. |
i had Groundcontrol coils on mine... and i had over 3" drop in the back alone!
i had no struts on them though, talk about a bouncy ride |

Used, you could probably pick up a set of coilovers cheaper, figure $800-$900 Koni/GC will run you about $1300 atleast, however they are used because you can pick your own rates, but for show only that dosen't really apply. $299usd for 380/280 rate GC coilovers, and then shocks that won't blow slammed are pretty much non-existant, but a quality shock would help. figure atleast $700 for shocks, so Omni is still a better option. Your best bet, Omni Power or Megan Racing. Either way, no matter what you do, your looking at $1000 plus $100 alignment, + installation (unless you do it yourself or through a buddy, its not hard) |
how are these coilovers on the winter? im planning of dropping my car in time...aren't they gonna rust?
|
rjngo: very good question, also nice 05. Love the front lights.
1) How exactly do you preserve a coilover with our harsh salted roads? 2) My budget is $1000 3) Omnipower doesnt even have a coilover available for 03+ 4) Megan I hear is wonderful. Good construction and good fitment. I've sat in a megan equipped car, and it felt a bit stiffer than stock on the softest setting. I've had Koni/HR, didn't like them = sold. Will RSX application coilover suspension fit the EM2 chassis? |
^thanks for the comments! got some pics of ur ride too?
|
For the 03-05 civic. I'd get Megans or I heard the D2's are pretty good too.
Lots of people say the teins are not worth it. I mean every says its a nice ride, but after they try a different set of coilovers most people tell me that they prefer the next set of coilover suspension that they end up getting. I'm considering getting the megans. The good thing I like about the D2's and the Megans. I like how they have the pillowball mounts already on there. With the teins, its an option. You can only get it with the Tein SS as well. Its not available on the basics which are priced in the same range as the Megans. Do you guys wanna try to find a shop and do like a group buy thingy?? say like get a discount if you buy 3 or even 2 at the same time?? |

omni will be out soon, but not sure why you'd want to lower in the middle of winter as opposed to spring?
especially slammed in the winter, have fun with that. |

rjngo: basically we have the same car, color and engine..but mine is 03.
Im not lowering in the winter. I am lowering in the spring, but I know for a fact that Im not taking them off next winter. So I need to know how to maintain them as well. DumbassSi: I just didnt like Koni/HR cause the car height was not where I wanted it to be. Even on the 2nd perch. Megans have pillowmounts? Nice. I think those will be the ones I use. |
Originally posted by maca I just bought kyb agx shocks/struts for my civic and i have Eibach Sportline springs to go along with it, it only lowers 1.6 inches. What do you mean, arent meant for too much of a drop, they arent going to blow on me right? the agx should be able to deal with a drop upto 2.5" no problem |
^^
theres some thread about why megan coilovers suck, you might wanna check it out. |
Originally posted by hdave ^^ theres some thread about why megan coilovers suck, you might wanna check it out. Yeah I just read the reviews on the 7thgen site. Screw the megans. I'm going to stick with springs. Get the Tein basic or SS. Even though it cost more, I guess you get what you pay for. |
You DO pay for what you get.
Thanks for the replies, I've decided =) |
Yes I would seriously check the Megan coil-overs. I've too heard good things about those and other Megan products in general. Are competitively priced as well.
