Adding power to the DOHC ZC Engine

My new hatchback has a DOHC ZC engine

I test drove it and it's a lot stronger than my D15B2, but i am looking for a little bit more than that

So this is what I am upgrading right now...

Si tranny (the car comes with slow CX tranny...2000rpm at 100km/h)

11lb lightweighted flywheel

NGK high output spark plugs

2.75" catback exhaust

Ported T/B

Ported Intake Manifold

Cold Air Intake

Chipped ECU

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so is there any other good ways to gain more power from this engine? i was so mad at myself that didn't spend a little extra money for a B18C but since i got this motor i am going to stick with it.
I am looking for something that is close to B16A or faster
anyone who can help?
2.75' catback?
I have a 2.75" catback exhaust on my civic hb with ZC motor
is it a good setup? or i should go with a smaller pipe?
my frd told me 2" is the best way to go, is it really slow with 2.75" pipe?
Headers for ZC engine
I am wondering which headers will fit the DOHC ZC engines?
i heard the D sereis headers are not perfect fit to the ZC engine
anyone can confirm?
LEITNER 16-May-2007 06:52 AM
wow thats huge...my 2.0L only used a 2.5"...so ya i would go with a 2"
Nova_Dust 16-May-2007 10:47 AM
2" to 2.38" would be good size. 2.75" seems a bit too large.
50 shot of Nozz all day long.
imported_Kingjames1983 16-May-2007 01:54 PM
its the down pipe of the head that might need to be modded to fit properly.
Why dont you just get some head work done? shave the head, get a valve job, if you have the money get a PP done. Tuned ECU cams, cam gears, valve train. Throwing a turbo on a ZC is rather pointless not just becuase the high compression but the top of teh pistons are dome shape and tend to blow piston rings with boosted.
If you get all that work done... then your exhaust would be more benifical than pointless.
BUDGET BOOOOOOST!
imported_janz3n 17-May-2007 04:02 PM
you have to port match the d series headers with a zc exhaust gasket. and make he ports a little bigger.
imported_rhd_ef 18-May-2007 01:10 PM
Vitara pistons ftw
imported_SMGFANDOTCOM 18-May-2007 11:50 PM
Change your exhaust and get a header. I tried a Lightspeed and Genie header they both needed to be matched.
Also that chip...what is it? ZC? Mugen?
i was told to get a 2" with no cat and a twin loop exhaust, that will get a lot of power from a small engine
i just found out that i am currenly on P07(VX ECU), i have no idea how they put that into my ZC and it's freaking slow!!! it runs so lean that the car just stop making power after 5500rpm
and i dunno what chip, i was told it's chipped and needs to run 91octane...and it has a 8100rpm redline, but i will give it a try
imported_chris_v2 19-May-2007 08:33 AM
why dont you get the proper ecu first??
zeeman 19-May-2007 09:51 AM
just get the right chip, or a custom tune.
imported_bananax 19-May-2007 11:11 AM
sorry I don't exactly know that much about ZCs or what they can do but for the price of all that stuff that you're doing, can't you pick up a b18a/b or a b16a and toss it in? thats a already a nice little boost =p
imported_Nicotine 19-May-2007 05:24 PM
or toss in a b16 at least :D woohaw. b series ftw!
dingus888 19-May-2007 10:37 PM
man just get a nice header port match it with a nice 2 inch mandrel bent exhaust with a nice vibrant flat black sleeper muffler high flow cat with a resonator a zc ecu, nice clutch (exedy race organic). And call it a day run 15 flat to real low 15's. pepy littel dd, cause only way to go faster if to boost it. You could go buy a jackson racing zc supercharger kit or a d series greddy turbo kit. Stock internal zc can handle light boost allday long 160-170 whp all day long.
imported_SaYjAiBaO 19-May-2007 10:51 PM
zc bottom end is the same as a d16 bottom end. 75mm pistons and a 90mm stroke. the bottom end can handle the same amount of power that a d series can.
imported_SMGFANDOTCOM 19-May-2007 11:05 PM
Your car must be wiried OBD1 if you have that ECU ..post up pics of the motor and ecu
if it is just toss the zc and put in a d15b or d16z6 :thumbup:
i have no idea coz it comes with the car, everything stockwise
the fuel cutoff is 6500rpm btw...
i got a chipped P06 ECU on hand, but haven't install yet
and yes it's OBD1, what other ECUs i can use?
