Adding P/S possible?
As title states I want to know if it's possible to install power steering if the car never came with it.
Any one know approx. how much and a parts list. Any help is appreciated. |
well you would need a complete power steering rack, all of the lines, the main line that goes from the rack to the pump, the power steering pump and brackets, the rubber hoses that go to the resivoir, the resivior....and of course honda power steering fluid.
Prolly cost a pretty penny to buy all that stuff new, so used might be a better option. |
not to mention install will be very costly.

my dads old 86 honda civic wagon was the greatest...it had no ps but the steering was so smooth and the trasmission was coolest..it was 3 speed but you shift it like a manual without clutch.so kool!!!

its alot of work as you will probibly need a lower subframe as well from a civic which came with power steering. usually you can get the subframe with the power steering rack already on it. Then its all the lines and all the small things. It would be alot of work not worth it unless you dont need the car for awhile, and you have the time and access to a donor car.

Would switching from power steering to non power steering be just as difficult?
How would it be done other then just taking the belt off and draining the fluid? |

But you can lose you PS by just removing the belt. YOu can leave the fluid in but you run the risk of wearing out your rack prematurely. |
