99 si exhaust

hey i have a 99 si witha AEM CAI i want to keep my car quite but wondering how i can free up the flow a little if i go 2.25 cat back what kind of muffler can i get so it will still be relitivly quite but still enhance the vtec crossover?

if you want it real quiet.. get the largest resanotor you can find. Or even a dual res... a muffler won't really have the same affect as a resanotor.

btw when I did a catback on my 98 si with CAI.. i lost a lot of low-end torque (even though there was none to begin with). I hated it.

no.. im just telling you what will happen. A lot of guys say they don't feel a difference in low-end. But I definately did.

If you don't have any future mods for your engine.. just grab a nice sounding muffler imo and call it a day.

i would do it... it would sound nice... but it depends on what you want. you will notice a little gain in the top end, but you might hate yourself after for the bottom end loss...

BTW... try the vibrant stealth black muffler... they look nice too and i believe they are relatively quiet.


on my b18c1 i switched it to a 2.5" mandrel bent and i lost some low end, but what i gained in top end was well worth it... honestly, its not noticeable with my motor above 3K... below that, if i take off really slow you will notice it because there is no back pressure... well, i have no cat, so that contributes to my problem...
