Hey guys, my 99 Si, when I accelerate I hear this rattling noise coming from the front near the front pipe.. what is that? Is that the heat shield coming loose? And sometimes when I idle it hear it as well.. if it is the heat shield can this be fixed or do I have to get it removed?

Loose heat shield, replace it or remove it its way too thin to weld

Hey there! My cousin just recently bought a second hand 99 Si and after 3 weeks, he encountered this rattling noise which he also thinks that is coming from the front pipe. Now we're both wondering what did you do to fix it. Did you loose heat shield then replace or did you just reach under and rip it off. Which way is better? I'll appreciate if anyone could update me about this because the thread is quite old. Thanks in advance!

Just rip the heatshield off. You'll be fine.

if its the heat shield then rip it off. however, i have the same issue with my 99 dx, apparently its my exhaust causing the rattling at low rpms. nothing to be too concerned about, but a nuisance non the less.
