Question 99 Civic headers

hey

I pulled out the stock headers for my 99 civic yesterday and found a crack in the headers.

Now this header has a cylindrical attatchment to it which i believe is a catalytical converter ..

A friend was telling me that i have 2 replace the whole unit (that is new header with the cylindrical attatchment).. I am a bit tight on budget and was wondering if i can put juss stock headers without the cylindrical unit to the exhaust pipe .. will this give me an engine code ? also my car is etested for 2 yrs so i can always have the cat repositioned later ..

Please comment..
thanks

I am swapping the D16Y7 with a D15B

thanks

that cylindrical attatchment is your cat. You could be fined heavily if you get caught without one.

I got a y8 stock exhaust manifold if you want one? but you'd need some exhaust work done to reposition your cat under your cat.
