change your hvac filter for the first problem and see what happens after that. for the second one, just replace your shifter bushings. you need to look under the car to really get to the bottom of the problem so to speak.

how much are shifter bushings? easy to DIY? hvac filter expensive?

ELGUY 17-Jul-2007 05:05 PM

The shifter bushigns are pretty cheap oem from the dealer arent bad, and the E.S poly urethane kit is only 20$ or so. Its not a bad job at all assuming youve got a few sockets and some time to kill. The HVAC filter shouldnt be more than $40 or so. You can buy them from an autoparts store for less.

honda sells a shifter bushing kit that has everything u need to fix it

the shifter is just hitting the heat shield. It doesn't necessarily mean the bushings are worn.

there is no hvac filter on our cars unforunately..

sirhondalot 17-Jul-2007 07:37 PM

opinions...should i get a short shifteer?...

I was going to post the same thing.

You could buy a S/S, but it will hit the exhaust too if thats the problem. It could simply be your boot rubbing on the shifter causing the noise. If you don't want an S/S, you can buy a shifter rebuild kit from Honda.

As for the gas, it is probably just condensation, almost like fog.

when i turn the a/c on it sends out a strange smell,

meh thats one opinion.

I believe its more driver error that kills the transmission more than the actual shifter..
