Just wondering if it would be cheaper to buy headers and get the catalytic converter put on the exhaust? Wll this work?

no. This will cost more than buying an aftermarket replacement manfiold and just fixing it.
Like i said, i've bought a brand new manifold for around $300 and its super easy to replace.
If you want a header you'll spend more than that on the header alone, then another $100 on the cat plus install.

^^zeeman...in this particular case, will it be better to get an SI (Y8) cat or an aftermarket one? my question is from the point of view of performance.

aftermarket high flow

But the difference here is going to be barely noticeable.
Even with a header and high flow cat.

Not for a Y7 it isnt. 15hp to be gained with I/H/E using mostly Y8 parts.

Anyhow, as Salman said, this happened to me about a month ago. I was told that there was an extended warranty recall on it b/c its a known Honda problem. I called Honda Canada and they flatly denied having such a recall. But anyhow, the car has a 7 warranty on it, so it got replaced under that umbrella.
