Angry 93 Civic Si clutch prob?

I'm having some trouble with my tranny. I'm hearing a small grinding noise after each gear change. Wondering if this is a problem with the entire clutch or just the release bearing being worn. If anyone else has experienced this or knows what the problem can be please let me know. Thanx!

Try changing your fluid and see if the problem still persists.

is the grinding after the shift or 'during' the shift. Do you have you clutch engadged or is it out?

this sounds oh too familar. ya if you getting grinding "during" your shift, that ain't nice. just hope its low on tranny fluid and get some. if not, think about upgrading your clutch sometime soon.

When dealing with a transmission it could be any # of problems believe me.. I went through the whole speel just after I got my swap done.

1st: Check the tranny fluid levels like they've said...

2nd: Make sure you know WHEN the grind is..

If its before or after a shift then you have problems with the actual transmission. Probably mangled inside.

If it is during the shift then most likely it is a syncro that is shot. They are about $100.00 each to replace but the labor is whats gonna be expensive.

3rd: Check to see what your clutchs engagement point is. If its a stock clutch and it engages waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out, with lots of slip.. it could be that your clutch is worn and your engaging the gear before your clutch has time to adjust. if thats the case, go and get an aftermarket clutch. OEM ones from honda will cost you an arm and a leg.

Regards,
OK

ya like overkill listed are the main points...also if you can or can't engage all the time, gears are stuck and can't get out. nasty noise when you start to move in first gear. my inner springs on the clutch were so worn they were pieces of springs and my flywheel lightened itself...that's an eye opener...ask Vince, he'll tell ya...

stupid noises suck

The grinding sound is after the shift mainly, but especially in first and second gear it goes into the gear pretty harshly sometimes, and I dunno if this helps but when I'm rolling in first gear with the clutch pedal pressed in all the way, I can hear a slight whirling sound almost as if the clutch isn't releasing all the way so as to put me in neutral....sooo I dunno WTF is happening. Regardless, I bought a new clutch kit from Honda today, and t'will be installed ASAP!
