92-95 Civic Coupe Lowered on Stock Suspension?
Anyone got experience or recommendations regarding lowering EG to 1.7 front and 1.4 rear on stock suspension? I just dont want to waste my money on install then finding out the ride is uncomfortable or my shocks dies after a short time and need to reinstall a new one.

I ran eibach sportlines on stock struts for about 10,000-15,000 kms before one of my rear struts blew on me.
The drop was about 1.6-1.7 front and back. |
my 95 coupe is lowered with neuspeed race springs on stock suspension. its not bumpy at all until u hit a bump,lol if u hit a series of consecutive bumps i kind of get a weird feeling in my stomach lol.but i would save for shocks it will bea way better ride imo.

Allot of people use their stock dampeners with lowering springs. It's ok as long as you aern't lowering with coil overs, then it gets bouncy.

Stupid Idea. Not to mention your car is 12 yr's old already. Save for the shock's as well.

I guess it would all depend on how old the stock suspension parts are and the road conditions you drive in.

yeah Im using all original stock with coil over and the ride is terrible and just last month I had to replace my two front axel....Im going to back to stock suspension until I can do it the right way ... oh and the camber wear ahhhh new tire every year

Isn't there a certain height you can't go lower then or else you have to replace your shocks or worry about camber? I know when I had my sunfire I could do eibach 1.5 drop and not have to worry about struts or camber. Maybe its just for j-body?

I have a civic on stock shocks. Its not that bad. jjust make sure they are not blown when u put ur new springs on.

if you gonna go aftermarket springs, go aftermarket shocks as well... get a full kit... won't go wrong....

Last year I ran Apex springs with 3 coils chopped ( I can hear you all already ) they were matched with OE struts from the wrecker. The car was aprox. 4 in. lower than stock. The car slightly tucked my 13's and I got very very little if no camber ware. One more thing there are about a half dozen people that can atest to this and also the same people will tell you will tell you that the car rode better than ones with those slip-on coil overs. I know it sounds CRAZY but.....I $hi# you not.

i have skunk 2 coilovers on stock struts i have beet the crap out of them and they are fine babie im just lucky but i have bottomed them out plenty of times my car is slammed 4''off the ground and i have 17'rims on there tucked

Lets go with how much you paid to install or time and effort to install and allignment for your set-up? |
dont waste your time. if youre gonna do it, do it right the first time. its only a matter of time until your shocks blow, and once they do, they will take other suspension parts with them. so instead of replacing the shocks, you will also be repairing what blown shocks did. if the shocks cannto do a sufficient job absorbing the impact, then other suspension components will suffer having to make up the difference. ...but what do i know, i drive a cavalier.

Steve said it right, dont it once and do it right. Its better of to save and buy a good coilover or spring/strut combo. You will be much happier in the end and save money only haveing to do one alignment.
Once you drive a stock shock dropped ride and them one with proper suspension, you will never go back. |
