89 civic SI Z6 swap need to knows
 

If you type in my name on this site you will see alot of stupid un answered questions but i figured them all out with out much thanks from people other then maybe 2 that knew what they were talkin about.
I purchased a 93 si motor the all mighty D16Z6 and installed it in my 89 civic with out doing the mini me thing. Yes it is possible and Yes the car runs beutifully did i convert to P28 like everyone told me to NOPE. i ripped out my motor and trany ripped the hydro tranny off the Z6 put my cable one on it after replacing the clutch and yes i used a 93 pressure plate clutch disc and flywheel with an 89 throw out bearing fit amazing.

Next i took the intake manifold off of my 89 motor MPFI of course and bolted it up to the Z6 once again no problems. i extended the wires for the coolant temp sensor that are supposed to run to the back of the block so the would reach the Z6's coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing.

Next i swapped the driver side motor mount for the 89 si motor mount rate from the block bolts. i lowered the motor in bolted it up with new polyurathain motor mount inserts. hooked everything up except the distributor.

Everyone says the dizzy cant have the timing adjusted if you cut slots in it to make it fit the Z6 well there wrong it works just as a normal Dizzy would work sliding around but only held in by 2 bolts insted of three.

then turned the key and it started great yea i know what your think you dont have vtec tho well i bought a Buddy club vtec activator and wired it up... yep k now i have vtec but hows the extra fuel gonna come in at vtec well i posted some other forums about ecu rempaping turns out in the states tones of people do this so i told him i wanted a P28 fuel map on my PM6 ecu and sent him a PM6 and he chipped it with the vtec at 4800 and i set my vtec activator for 4800 and bam true vtec using PM6 wiring on a Z6 i even used the Z6 altonator and guess what i did this by myslef in 3 days and im 19 in college with nothing to do with cars everything went great other then having to go to the hospital be cause i woke up with a seezed back 2 days after finished i highly recamend getting help pushing the motor around when you put it in

one extra thing if u want you ecu chipped with p28 fuel map it needs to be a 90 91 ecu 89 cant be chipped as easily so most people dont like to

good man i did the same thing back in the day about 3 years ago and its an alright swap for cheap

try doing 3 motor swaps in a week, on one car, switching from dpfi, to mpfi, for a ZC, then re wiring for MPFI on a Z6/A6 combo. swapping trannys and clutchs each time, btw, i'm 19 as well, and just did this last month on my four door

I wasnt big upin myself guy the point i was trying to get across is that it is an easy swap and everyone that is scared of doing it including shops have now need to worry about thanks for adding a pointless reply to my thread

so how hard is it to do a dpfi to mpfi swap?? driving a 90 civic with SOHC zc but using DPFI..
