5 Bolt conversion

Yeah i did a search already on the TCC forum and i still couldn't find it. I'm sorry if this was asked before but here it goes:

How much is it to do 5Bolt conversion on a Civic SiR. (Labor and tools?)

Only reason i'm asking this is because i want to get the JDM Honda 5 bolt rims (White). They look sick and none is like it on a 4bolt. Unless if there exist one that i havn't heard of or else i might plan on doing a 5 bolt conversation sometime during summer.

Thanks.

For those who don't know how they look like

Sorry about posting it in the wrong forum.

That pic is actually the JDM DC5 (rsx) Type R 5 bolt. It wont fit (easily) on your car. You can put the wheels on id you get a 5 bolt conversion from a JDM dc2 ITR (integra) or JDM EK9 Civic Type R. The civic type R 5 bolt conversion is the easiest route because if you have an sir your axels are the right size alreday, and the rear lower controll arms are the right ones for your car.

Here is the DC5:

The other thing about these is you will need a 17inch wheel to clear them cause the calipers are so big.

Here is the DC2 5 Bolt:

Your looking at about 1200 for the complete conversion, plus about 300 to install it. Then..whatever wheels you choose to run.

Hope this helps!

Eric

always wondered about this but what are the differences between the dc2r and ek9 5bolt conversions?

imported_civic-siR 21-Oct-2005 12:41 AM

Good eye bro. Yeah i just used that as a example (The picture).

Yeah it does help a lot thanks a lot eric. Oh man around $2700 to get the complete JDM wheel done(1200 + 1200 rims + 300). So sexy yet so expensive. :(

*cough used rims :p not brand new. :p

imported_dazednconfuzed 21-Oct-2005 01:38 AM

....Used Everything, more like it...

There's gotta be 4 or 5 different sets of OEM Honda White Type R Wheels...And they came in 4 bolt on the Canadian/US Integra Type R, but the bolt pattern is 4x114.3, which would require you to do a similar swap anyway.

I'm not sure if there's any difference between the EK and DC caliper/rotor assembly, but the rear lower control arms are certainly different. I'm sure there's more, too.

The only difference between your SiR 4 bolt and a, say, CTR 5 bolt are the hub, disc size, and caliper. I believe everything else is the same (brake hose is minor at this point, obviously, you want the look and really, "5" bolts won't brake better than "4").

I am not taking axle size (32mm vs 36mm) into consideration, since there are ways around it.

But braking power is good enough with SiR size, so all you gotta do is get a 5 bolt hub and you are done. Front and back. That way, no need to bleed, no need to unbolt anything, just change the hubs.

Correct me if I am wrong.

waste of money imo, unless you have tons of money coming in and your making it a show car

That's what I find sort of bazzard, does that 1 extra stud makes all the world of difference?

haha

You have different wheel options. That's the main difference. I don't know if there are better rotor available for 5 bolt or not.

Nova_Dust 21-Oct-2005 01:58 PM

I suppose wheel whores would think so.

imported_winner007 22-Oct-2005 06:37 PM

U guys are wasting your $$$ on stupid things trying to change 5 bolt conversion.
The cheapest way to do it, is to change your hub to a 5 bolt. Easy to change and cheap and simple. I wouldn't waste any $$$ on that though. Good luck. U don't need the whole thing.

imported_alwaysoverkill 22-Oct-2005 08:05 PM

those rims are damn nice, my favorite 17" there is. if a 5 bolt wasn't so expensive i'd love to have those on my EL, pure hotness.

There's replicas of that wheel in 4 bolt, I've seen them on H-T. :)

5-lug may be worth it if you can find a set for a decent price. If you've driven a civic with ITR 5-lug done to it, you'll be amazed at how powerful the brakes are. The ITR caliper and rotor are larger than the regular DC2 brakes, and the MC and prop valve are larger as well i believe.

as for wheel selection being the excuse for getting it, there's hardly a rim that comes in 5-lug but not 4-lug these days...unless you're talking about putting 19+'s on your civic. and to pay that much for OEM Honda rims isn't worth it IMO...
that extra lug will also get your points at show however.

going price around vancouver is about 1200bux as well, without rims. add another 500bux for ITR white 15" rims.

civic_integra 24-Oct-2005 04:17 PM

5 lug conversion.... is a thieves magnet
