3rd gear is grinding....HELP..!!

I drive a 97 civic dx hatchback with a stock engine and I just switch my tranny to the 95 si tranny for better gear ratios but I don't understand why the 3rd gear grinds when I try to shift into 3rd at 3rpm or higher and it is really annoying. But the thing is that the tranny came from my friend's 95 si but it didn't grind at all in his car ...what do I have to do to stop the grinding..??
Or do I have to pay and buy another tranny..?? Is it the problem with install or problem with the tranny....??
even though it grinds but I can still chift into gears no problem, just grinding whenever I get to 3rd....

Please help.......

Maybe your buddy was really really gentle when he shifted into third and you never noticed. What fluid are you running in the tranny? The orignal Honda MTF fluid is recommended but as I understand it alot of Honda guys now run the GM manual tranny fluid that has the friction modifier added into it, that may solve your grind problems. Other then that im not sure what to tell you.
