3rd gear grind in a crx

Hey, i just a crx and there seems to be a bit of a problem.... All the gears are fine, but everytime i shift from second to third there is a bit of a grind...not really bad, but a bit noticable......from 4th to 3rd its fine but only second to 3rd......is there a way to fix this pretty cheap without having to buy a new tranny or what-not? Like any type of oil or something that reduces grinds?????

I need some help...=(

eeek is the grind all the time from first to second ?? or is it only at high rpm ?? im not sure man it could get pretty pricey depending on where you go... if you go that route i would suggest just maybe looking for a whole new tranny.... like keep your eyes open here in the classifieds for a good deal on one... hope this helped at least a little...

well, the grind is from 2nd to 3rd all the time, not 1st to 2nd.....but it pretty much does happen all the time...and its not a really bad sounding grind....but, it can be heard and is very annoying as I know something is wrong...but i dunno exactly what...lol.....also, if i keep driving it like that will it really screw up everything? or is it cheaper just to drive it for a while until it gets really bad...then just buy another si tranny?>

i cant really say because i dont really know what it is for sure... i know it sounds like your synchros.... if you goto a transmission shop they will probably charge you up the ***... i'd keep your eyes open for a tranny on here... and if you know anyone that knows tranny get them to check it out unless you what to pay a tranny place to check it out... and they will probably have to peal the tranny off which is gonna cost you anyway.... i dunno man maybe get some other peoples input on the board i dont know a hell of alot about trannys compared to some people on here..

good luck

You should double clutch before shifting from 2nd to 3rd. This will help reduce the grind. It won't fix anything but atleast you won't have to hear the grinding sound.

a grind will progressively get worse over time, and if you dont' care abotu the car at all and plan on scrapping it like i did then go ahead leave it till third is completely unusable or your shift fork gets destroyed not allowing you to select any gear at all....

If you tranny fluid's really old that could be the cause, your best bet is just change the tranny oil and see what that does.... If that doesn't help any then just double clutch or just skip from 2nd to 4th hehe or get a new tranny... ugh
